Western Addiction is an American punk rock band based in San Francisco, California, United States. The band was formed by four veterans of the punk scene. Some of the members previously worked for Fat Wreck Chords. They have toured internationally in both the USA, Europe, and Japan. Frail Bray
''Frail Bray'' is the third studio album by the San Francisco based punk rock band Western Addiction. The album was released by Fat Wreck Chords on May 15, 2020. It was recorded in late 2019 and produced by Jack Shirley, who also produced albums for Jeff Rosenstock, Deafheaven and Joyce Manor. ''Frail Bray'' features guest appearances by Darius Koski from Swingin' Utters and Brenna Red from The Last Gang. It is the first album by Western Addiction with the bass guitarist Mitch Paglia. Background The album was announced by Fat Wreck Chords first officially on March 17. A song was released, "They Burned Our Paintings". On April 20, a new song was released, called "Lurchers". A music video for "They Burned Our Paintings" was released on May 6 and the full album was made available for streaming on May 13. The album was officially released two days later, on May 15. Todd Kowalski
Todd "The Rod" Kowalski (born May 27, 1973) is a Canadian bassist and singer, currently a member of hardcore punk band Propagandhi. Along with his band, he lives a vegan lifestyle and supports animal rights. Career In the early 1990s, Kowalski was the frontman of I Spy, a hardcore punk band from Regina, originally called Klump. He and the band moved to Winnipeg in 1994. They recorded a split CD/10" with Propagandhi. I Spy played together until the summer of 1996, when they decided to call it quits. In 1996 Kowalski joined a band called Swallowing Shit who released a 7" record and an Anthology Cd. Kowalski joined Propagandhi in 1997 and also played bass for J Church on their 1997 Japanese tour. In 1998, G7 Welcoming Committee Records released an I Spy anthology album called ''Perversity is Spreading... It's About Time''. Thierry De Cordier (born 1954 in Ronse, Belgium) is a contemporary visual artist. He currently lives and works in the Alpujarras, Spain. His art consists of drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations and poetry/philosophy, and his work is held in numerous museum collections, including S.M.A.K. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (often shortened to just Me First or the Gimmes) are a punk rock supergroup and cover band that formed in San Francisco in 1995. The band's lineup consists of Spike Slawson, Fat Mike, Joey Cape, and Dave Raun. Chris Shiflett is a former member. The Gimmes work exclusively as a cover band. They specialize in rapid-fire punk interpretations of a wide range of songs, often with a humorous edge. The band is named after a children's book of the same name by Gerald G. Jampolsky and Diane V. Cirincione. History The band's first release came with 1995's ''Denver'', a 7" single released on band member Fat Mike's record label Fat Wreck Chords, featuring two John Denver covers. Lagwagon is an American punk rock band originally from Goleta, California, just outside Santa Barbara. They formed in 1989, went on hiatus in 2000, and reunited several times over the years. Their name comes from the band's tour van, which can be seen on the back cover of their 1994 second album '' Trashed''. The band has 12 releases through Fat Wreck Chords: nine studio albums, one EP, one live album and a collection of B-sides, compilation tracks and demos. Lagwagon has never had, nor have they seemed to pursue, strong mainstream success, but they do have a devoted underground following in North America, Europe and Asia. ''Cognicide'' is Western Addiction's first full-length album. It was released on Fat Wreck Chords on November 1, 2005. The album is known for featuring a sound heavily inspired by Hardcore punk acts of the 1980s. Fat Mike has often listed Cognicide as one of the greatest releases on his label, Fat Wreck Chords, calling it one of the best hardcore albums he's ever heard. Joey Cape of Lagwagon has also stated that it is his favorite album released on Fat Wreck Chords. Randal Joseph Cape (born November 16, 1966) is an American singer and musician. Active since 1989, Cape is best known as the frontman of the California punk rock band Lagwagon. Cape released his first solo album, ''Bridge'', in 2008. His second album '' Doesn't Play Well with Others'', was self-released in 2011, after he released each song on the album each month of 2010, collecting them all on CD and vinyl in the end of 2010. Biography In addition to his work with Lagwagon, he was the lead vocalist for the experimental band Bad Astronaut until they disbanded due to death of drummer Derrick Plourde and is also a guitarist in the cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Moreover, Joey Cape released two split albums with Tony Sly of No Use for a Name, featuring acoustic versions of Lagwagon and No Use For a Name songs.
