Treasure Fleet
Treasure Fleet, sometimes billed as The Treasure Fleet, is a Chicago-based band featuring members of The Lawrence Arms, The Arrivals, and Smoking Popes. Originally formed in 2009 by Isaac Thotz and Neil Hennessy, the two added Dave Merriman and Mike Oberlin and played a few shows as a four piece before adding Eli Caterer as a lead guitarist. Their sound has been influenced by bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Treasure Fleet played The Fest in 2014 along with Paint It Black, The City on Film, and Iron Chic. The same year they played a four night stint with Alkaline Trio at Metro Chicago. They participated in Recess Records' 25th anniversary tour. Their debut album, ''Cocamotion'', was released in 2012. Their sophomore effort, ''Future Ways'', was released later the same year. In 2015, they released ''The Sun Machine'' on Recess Records. Metro Chicago
Metro (formerly the Stages Music Hall and Cabaret Metro) is a concert hall in Chicago, Illinois, United States, that plays host to a variety of local, regional and national emerging bands and musicians. The Metro was first opened in 1982. The capacity is 1,100, divided between the main floor and the balcony. The building housing Metro also houses Smart Bar underneath the main venue. History In the late 1970s, Joe Shanahan, having experienced the art, music and dance culture in New York City, created a club to host creative acts in Chicago. Shanahan was directed to the Northside Auditorium Building. The building was originally built in 1927 as a Swedish Community Center. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, '' For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, '' Goddamnit'' (1998). Iron Chic
Iron Chic is an American rock band from Long Island, New York, United States. The band consists of Phil Douglas, Jason Lubrano, Gordon Lafler, Mike Bruno, and Jesse Litwa. The band has released 3 records to date. All three of their albums have received positive reviews on websites such as Pitchfork, Noisey and PunkNews.org. The band released their third album and first for SideOneDummy Records, titled '' You Can't Stay Here'', on October 13, 2017. Background Iron Chic was formed in 2008 after the dissolution of Phil Douglas' and Brian Crozier's former band Latterman. The City On Film
The City on Film is the official name of Bob Nanna's solo act. He began solo recordings in 1997 during the off-time between Braid tours. These recordings began to accumulate, and in May 2004 he recorded ''I'd Rather Be Wine Drunk'' (his first solo EP) in a Salt Lake City hotel room during a Hey Mercedes tour. Thus far, he has released three EPs, an LP, and a 7" vinyl, and several split EPs. The City on Film's sound is generally lighter, slower, and more cerebral than that of either Braid or Hey Mercedes. There are several lyrical connections and similarities across all three acts (e.g. in Hey Mercedes' "Frowning of a Lifetime", the line ''the lady's a raven / new Elenora Fagan'' compares with ''our baby will be a raven / we'll name her Elenora Fagan'' from The City on Film's "How a Helicopter Sounds"). Paint It Black is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based modern hardcore punk band. Their music is often described as melodic hardcore, which is characterized by fast tempos, catchy melodies, and emotionally charged singing and shouting. They have released three full-length albums, '' CVA'', ''Paradise'', and ''New Lexicon'', all of which have been on Jade Tree Records. The band features Dan Yemin as the group's vocalist and lyricist. Yemin is most known as the guitarist for New Jersey's Lifetime and was also the guitarist of another Philadelphia-based punk/hardcore act, Kid Dynamite.
