Travis Tomasie
Travis Tomasie is an American sport shooter, a firearms instructor, and a multiple world and national IPSC and USPSA champion. Tomasie took gold in multiple USPSA National Championships, as well as the 2008 IPSC Handgun World Shoot in the Standard division and bronze at the 2005 World Shoot in the Standard division. In addition to serving as the captain of multiple gold medal winning US National teams, Tomasie also owns and operates a marksmanship academy. He is a US Army Veteran and former member of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit. United States Army Marksmanship Unit
The United States Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU or AMU) is a part of U.S. Army providing small arms marksmanship training for soldiers and enhancing Army recruiting. The unit was originally established in 1956 at the direction of president Dwight D. Eisenhower to the mission of winning international competitions, which at the time was dominated by the Soviet Union. At the 1964 Summer Olympics, the United States won seven medals in shooting, of which six were won by Army Marksmanship Unit members; unit members have continued to win medals at subsequent competitions. A 2008 ''New York Times'' article notes that the unit has "a reputation as the country's premier training school for competitive shooters." Para USA (Para) was an American-owned firearms manufacturer. It was the successor to Para-Ordnance, founded in Canada in 1985. International Practical Shooting Confederation
The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) is the world's largest shooting sport association, and the largest and oldest within practical shooting. Founded in 1976, the IPSC nowadays affiliates over 100 regions from Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. Competitions are held with pistol, revolver, rifle, and shotgun, and the competitors are divided into different divisions based on firearm and equipment features. IPSC Handgun World Shoot
The IPSC Handgun World Shoot is the highest level handgun match within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) which consists of several days and at least 30 separate courses of fire. The Handgun World Shoots are held triennially on a rotational cycle with the other two main IPSC disciplines Rifle and Shotgun. IPSC US Handgun Championship
The IPSC US Handgun Championship are yearly IPSC level 3 matches held by the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) run under IPSC-rules (contrary to the USPSA Handgun Championship, which is run under USPSA-rules). Sometimes, all of the pistol IPSC nationals are held at the same time, other years, they have been broken up between different ranges. In order to attend the nationals a competitor usually has to win a "slot" by placing well enough at various regional and Area Championship matches held throughout the year.
