Travis Meyer (cyclist)
Travis Meyer (born 8 June 1989 in Viveash) is an Australian former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2016. His first Pro Tour race was the 2009 Tour Down Under. At the beginning of 2010 he was the winner of the Australian National Road Race Championships elite road race. Personal life His brother Cameron Meyer is also a cyclist, and rode with Travis at in 2012 and 2013. 2009 Tour Down Under
The 2009 Tour Down Under was the 11th edition of the Tour Down Under cycling stage race, taking place over 20–25 January in and around Adelaide, South Australia. The Tour Down Under was the first race outside Europe to be given ProTour status by the UCI, and this edition was the first race in the inaugural UCI World Ranking calendar. This was the first race in Lance Armstrong's comeback. The race was preceded by an opening race called Down Under Classic, not part of the UCI ProTour competition. General Classification In The Tour De France
The general classification is the most important classification, the one by which the winner of the Tour de France is determined. Since 1919, the leader of the general classification wears the yellow jersey (french: maillot jaune ). History The winner of the first Tour de France wore a green armband, not a yellow jersey. After the second Tour de France, the rules were changed, and the general classification was no longer calculated by time, but by points. This points system was kept until 1912, after which it changed back into the time classification. At that time, the leader still did not wear a yellow jersey. There is doubt over when the yellow jersey began. General Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The general classification in the Giro d'Italia is the most important classification of the Giro d'Italia, which determines who is the overall winner. It is therefore considered more important than secondary classifications as the points classification or the mountains classification. Since 1931, the leader of the general classification is identified by a pink jersey ( it, maglia rosa ). Prior to that year and since the creation of the race, no colour was used to distinguish the winner at the top of the classification. The first rider to wear the maglia rosa was Learco Guerra following the first stage of the 1931 Giro d'Italia. The first jersey was entirely pink and made from wool. It had a roll-neck collar and front pockets. As Italy was under Fascist Party rule there was a gray shield stitched onto the shirt, a symbol for the party. Grand Tour (cycling)
In road bicycle racing, a Grand Tour is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races: Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España. Collectively they are termed the ''Grand Tours'', and all three races are similar in format, being three-week races with daily stages. They have a special status in the UCI regulations: more points for the UCI World Tour are distributed in Grand Tours than in other races, and they are the only stage races allowed to last longer than 14 days. All three races have a substantial history, with the Tour de France first held in 1903, Giro d'Italia first held in 1909 and the Vuelta a España first held in 1935. The Giro is generally run in May, the Tour in July, and the Vuelta in late August and September. The Tour de Korea is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in South Korea since 2000 as part of the UCI Asia Tour. It was rated by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as a 2.2 category race between 2005 and 2013, then promoted to 2.1 category in 2014. The race is organised by the Korea Cycling Federation. History The tour gained international attention when Lance Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France winner, participated in 2007. 2015 Tour De Taiwan
The 2015 Tour de Taiwan was the thirteenth edition of the Tour de Taiwan cycling stage race. It started on 22 March and ended on 26 March, consisting of five stages and was rated as a 2.1 event on the 2015 UCI Asia Tour. The 2014 champion was Rémy Di Gregorio (), but his team was not selected to take part in the 2015 edition. The race was won by Samad Pourseyedi (). He finished third on the first hill-top finish on stage 2, then took a solo victory on stage 4. He defended his lead to the end of the race. The final podium was made up entirely of Iranian riders: two riders came second and third, Hossein Askari and Rahim Emami. Pourseyedi also won the mountains and Asian rider classifications, while were the best team.
