The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1991 were held in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria between 22 January and 3 February, 1991 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1991. Sunshine often hit the snow of Saalbach-Hinterglemm during the competitions, which are remembered as some of the sunniest ever. The competitions also saw the international breakthroughs for skiers who would score major successes throughout the 1990s, like Austria's Stephan Eberharter. and Sweden's Pernilla Wiberg. Puy () is a geological term used locally in the Auvergne, France for a volcanic hill. The word derives from the Provençal ''puech'', meaning an isolated hill, coming from Latin ''podium'', which has given also ''puig'' in Catalan, ''poggio'' in Italian, ''poio'' in Galician and Portuguese. Banff Sunshine Village (formerly Sunshine Village) is a ski resort in western Canada, located on the Continental Divide of the Canadian Rockies within Banff National Park in Alberta and Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia. It is one of three major ski resorts located in the Banff National Park. Because of its location straddling the Continental Divide of the Americas, Sunshine receives more snow than the neighbouring ski resorts.
