Trapene Manor
Trapene Manor, formerly named Bormaņi Manor, is a manor house in Trapene Parish, Smiltene Municipality in the historical region of Vidzeme, in northern Latvia. History Originally built at the beginning of the 19th century, red brick outer walls were added around 1890. In 1917, during World War I and onset of civil war in Russia, property was abandoned by it owner Baron Voldemar and started to quickly deteorate. Head of local school and also musician Eižens Vēveris envision use of abandoned house for artistic activities and convinced local authorities to save the property. The building currently houses the Trapene parish cultural center and library. Smiltene Municipality
Smiltene Municipality ( lv, Smiltenes novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging the town of Smiltene with the rural parishes of Bilska, Blome, Branti, Grundzāle, Launkalne, Palsmane, Smiltene and Variņi. During the 2021 Latvian administrative reform, the previous municipality was merged with Ape Municipality and Rauna Municipality. The administrative centre is in the town of Smiltene. The population in 2020 was 11,985. Geography Smiltene Municipality is located in the northern part of the Vidzeme Highland on the banks of the river Abuls (Abula). The largest natural lake is Lake Klievezers (3.3 ha) in the southern part of the municipality. In the municipality there are three artificial lakes (reservoirs) created on the river. Vidzeme (; Old Latvian orthography: ''Widda-semme'', liv, Vidūmō) is one of the Historical Latvian Lands. The capital of Latvia, Riga, is situated in the southwestern part of the region. Wikimapia
Wikimapia is a geographic online encyclopedia project. The project implements an interactive "clickable" web map that utilizes Google Maps with a geographically-referenced wiki system, with the aim to mark and describe all geographical objects in the world. Wikimapia was created by Alexandre Koriakine and Evgeniy Saveliev in May 2006. The data, a crowdsourced collection of places marked by registered users and guests, has grown to just under 28,000,000 objects , and is released under the Creative Commons License Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). Although the project's name is reminiscent of that of Wikipedia, and the creators share parts of the "wiki" philosophy, it is not a part of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation family of wikis.
