Transformers
''Transformers'' is a media franchise produced by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Tomy, Takara Tomy. It primarily follows the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two Extraterrestrials in fiction, alien robot factions at war that can transform into other forms, such as vehicles and animals. The franchise encompasses toys, animation, comic books, video games and films. As of 2011, it generated more than () in revenue, making it one of the List of highest-grossing media franchises, highest-grossing media franchises of all time. Transformers (comics)
There have been four main publishers of the comic book series bearing the name ''Transformers'' based on the Transformers (toy line), toy lines of the same name. The first series was produced by Marvel Comics from 1984 to 1991, which ran for 80 issues and produced four Spin-off (media), spin-off miniseries. This was followed by a second volume titled ''Transformers: Generation 2'', which ran for 12 issues starting in 1993. The second major series was produced by Dreamwave Productions from 2002 to 2004 with multiple limited series as well, and within multiple story continuities, until the company became bankrupt in 2005. The third and fourth series have been published by IDW Publishing with the third series starting with an issue #0 in October 2005 and a regular series starting in January 2006 to November 2018. ''Transformers'' is a series of science fiction action films based on the ''Transformers'' franchise. Michael Bay directed the first five live action films: ''Transformers'' (2007), '' Revenge of the Fallen'' (2009), '' Dark of the Moon'' (2011), '' Age of Extinction'' (2014), and '' The Last Knight'' (2017), and has served as a producer for subsequent films. A sixth film, ''Bumblebee'', directed by Travis Knight, was released in 2018, while a seventh film, '' Rise of the Beasts'', directed by Steven Caple Jr., was released in 2023. List Of Transformers Animated Series
Launched in 1984, the Transformers toyline by Takara Tomy and Hasbro was promoted through both a comic book by Marvel Comics and an animated series produced by Sunbow Productions and Marvel Productions with Toei Animation. Although the comic outlived the animated series by a number of years, the animated series is more widely recognised. With the original show's conclusion in 1987, original series exclusive to Japan were created which ran until 1990, and the franchise was later re-imagined with the fully CGI '' Beast Wars'' in the late 1990s. Age Of Extinction
''Transformers: Age of Extinction'' is a 2014 American science fiction action film based on Hasbro's ''Transformers'' toy line. It is the standalone sequel to '' Transformers: Dark of the Moon'' (2011) and the fourth installment in the ''Transformers'' film series. Like its predecessor, the film is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger. It stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, with Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Sophia Myles, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver, and T.J. Miller in supporting roles.
