Transcontinental Conspiracy
''Transcontinental Conspiracy'' is an album by Vas Deferens Organization and Brad Laner, released in 1996 by Quaquaversal Vinyl. The album was remastered and re-issued on Niklas Records in 2011, accompanied by the additional track "Scheming Foils". Recording Music by Mercury Rev appears in "First Plane Not to Plummet Seaward" and "Monk Fish Liver Transplant Plate". Regarding the band's involvement, Lumbleau has stated: "Their material was generated during a spontaneous pre-gig jam that occurred at our studio while they waited there for an interview that never ultimately transpired. These jams were later integrated into the fabric of our compositions and are featured prominently on two of the CD's four tracks." Vas Deferens Organization
Vas Deferens Organization is an American experimental band and a production team founded in Dallas in 1994 by Matt Castille in association with Christopher Moock, Jason Cohen, Barbara Cohen, Craig Carlton, Breck Outland, and Reagen Boone. In 1995 Eric Lumbleau joined the group. From 1995 through 2007, VDO was a loose collective centered on Castille and Lumbleau and ever-changing collaborators. Christopher Moock reunited with Castille and Lumbleau in 2007. They have worked, amongst many others, with Brad Laner of Medicine fame, Mercury Rev, and Ariel Pink with whom they are friends. Brad Laner
Brad Laner (born November 6, 1966 in Los Angeles, California) is an American musician and record producer best known for his work with the shoegaze band Medicine, which he founded and led. Grasshopper (born Sean Thomas Mackowiak, May 25 1967) is an American musician with the band Mercury Rev. He has also appeared with Rev side-project Harmony Rockets, his own band Grasshopper and the Golden Crickets, and as a guest musician on numerous other recordings. Early years Mackowiak's early years have been colored by a 1991 interview given to music publication ''Melody Maker'', which claimed that he met Rev singer Jonathan Donahue in Camp Sunshine, a reform camp for juvenile delinquents, at the age of ten.
