Transcend (advocacy)
Transcend is an advocacy and support group, and a Charity (practice), registered charity founded in 2012 by actor and advocate Rebekah Robertson, in support of transgender young people. History Transcend was the first parent-led support group and information hub in Australia for gender diverse children and their parents. As an information hub, the website provides information about where to find support and information specific to the reader's location, details on how to access treatment and how to look after a gender diverse child (for parents) as well as specific support services for the child themselves. Furthermore, the website also lists contact details for different services and specialists nationwide. The 'latest news' section contains various links to articles or media pieces that relate to trans issues or to Robertson and her daughter Georgie Stone, Georgie's advocacy. Rebekah Robertson
Rebekah Sarah Robertson (born 4 July 1967 in Surrey, England) is an Australian actress, author and activist who has appeared on television and on stage. In 2012, Robertson founded the first parent led peer support group and information hub for transgender kids and their families in Australia, Transcend. She now advocates for transgender kids and has won numerous awards for her work. Early life Robertson was born in Surrey, England, but grew up in Hobart, Tasmania with her four sisters. Career Acting Rebekah Robertson began her career with an appearance in the television show, ''Problem Creek'' as Min, in 1988. Robertson began appearing in multiple Zootango Theatre Company shows, including ''Alice in Wonderland'' as the Queen of Hearts, ''As You Like It'' as Phoebe, ''The Comedy of Errors'' as Adrianna and ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' as Hermia, amongst others. Georgie Stone
Georgie Robertson Stone is an Australian actress, writer and transgender rights advocate. At the age of 10, Stone was the youngest person to receive hormone blockers in Australia, which set a precedent that eventually changed the law that compelled transgender children and their families to apply to the Family Court of Australia to access stage one treatment. She continues to advocate for transgender children, and is one of the most visible transgender people in Australia. Early life Georgie Stone was born to parents Greg Stone and Rebekah Robertson. Transgender
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process. Additionally, they may undergo sex reassignment therapies such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery to more closely align their primary and secondary sex characteristics with their gender identity. Not all transgender people desire these treatments, however, and others may be unable to access them for financial or medical reasons. ''Four Corners'' is an Australian investigative journalism/current affairs documentary television program. Broadcast on ABC TV, it premiered on 19 August 1961 and is the longest-running Australian television program in history. The St Kilda Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria.
