''Tramp, Tramp, Tramp'' is a 1926 American silent comedy film directed by Harry Edwards and starring Harry Langdon and Joan Crawford. Premise The film tells of Harry (Langdon) a ne'er-do-well who falls in love with Betty (Crawford), a girl on a billboard. Harry participates in a cross country foot race hoping to win prize money in hopes of marrying her. Langdon wins the race when a tornado strikes near the finish line.Langdon is so innocently oblivious to it that he simply walks through the disaster while the other contestants run for cover. Harry Edwards (director)
Harry Edwards (October 11, 1887 - May 26, 1952) was a Canadian-born American film director and actor. He worked in films from the 1910s to the 1950s. Biography He was born in Calgary on 11 October 1887. He once worked for the now largely forgotten L-KO Kompany during the silent era. In his later years at Columbia Pictures, Edwards established a reputation as the studio's worst director. Both Vera Vague and the Three Stooges requested they not work with him. He is best remembered for his long collaboration with comedian Harry Langdon. He worked with Langdon in the 1920s in some of his best short films, and directed one of Langdon's best known films, the feature ''Tramp, Tramp, Tramp'' (1926). Langdon later became swell-headed with success and later dispensed with Edwards and Frank Capra, who also directed some of Langdon's most successful films, deciding he could direct himself. Brooks Benedict (born Harold J. Mann, February 6, 1896 – January 1, 1968) was an American actor of the silent and sound film eras, when he played supporting and utility roles in over 300 films, mostly uncredited. Life He was born to Alice Julian and Samuel Mann. He attended Princeton University for two years, and was a member of its football team. He then joined the American Ambulance Corps in France for six months at the height of the First World War. Upon return and after the Selective Service Act of 1917, he enlisted and served as a private in the U.S. Army Air Service (632 Aero Sq., 144 Aero Sq., Sq. I Kelly Field, Sq. C Gerstner Field; Flying School Detachment). ''The Strong Man'' is a 1926 American silent comedy film starring Harry Langdon. Along with '' Tramp, Tramp, Tramp'', ''The Strong Man'' is Langdon's best known film. Capra would also direct Langdon's next feature, ''Long Pants'' (1927), which would be their final collaboration. Plot Paul Bergot (Harry Langdon) is a Belgian emigrant to the United States who has fallen in love with Mary Brown (Priscilla Bonner), a blind woman. They met as pen-pals when he was fighting in Europe during World War I. Mary even sent Paul a photo of herself. Paul searches for Mary Brown by asking every woman he meets if she is Mary Brown.
