Toyota SZ Engine
The Toyota SZ engine family is a series of compact straight-4 piston engines. Toyota Manufacturing UK, Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) in Deeside produces SZ engines for the Toyota Yaris, Yaris. All three types of the SZ engine are built in Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Co., Ltd. (TFTE) Plant No. 1 in Xiqing District, Tianjin, China. The 2SZ-FE and 3SZ-VE variations are also manufactured by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor's Karawang Engine Plant in Indonesia. This engine family has offset crankshaft center to cylinder center-line called the Desaxe, Désaxé, thin-wall cast-iron engine block, single-row chain-operated DOHC 4-valve, variable valve timing that allows Miller cycle operation for partial-throttle condition, and the 1.3L and 1.5L versions have the design to adopt to both longitudinal and transverse mounting. Further, these larger versions also adopt to longitudinal mounting with the engine canted nearly 90° to the left (exhaust-side down) for under-seat horizontal positioning. Bac ... Piston Engine
A reciprocating engine, more often known as a piston engine, is a heat engine that uses one or more Reciprocating motion, reciprocating pistons to convert high temperature and high pressure into a Circular motion, rotating motion. This article describes the common features of all types. The main types are: the internal combustion engine, used extensively in motor vehicles; the steam engine, the mainstay of the Industrial Revolution; and the Stirling engine for niche applications. Internal combustion engines are further classified in two ways: either a spark-ignition engine, spark-ignition (SI) engine, where the spark plug initiates the combustion; or a compression-ignition engine, compression-ignition (CI) engine, where the air within the cylinder is compressed, Adiabatic process, thus heating it, so that the heated air ignites fuel that is injected diesel engine, then or hot-bulb engine, earlier.''Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach'' by Yunus A. Daihatsu Storia
The is a subcompact car/supermini which was produced by the Japanese automaker Daihatsu between 1998 and 2005. It effectively replaced the similar sized Charade, which was produced alongside it for a year. It was also sold as the in Japan, which replaced the Corolla II. In international markets, with the exception of a few countries, the Storia was sold as the first-generation Daihatsu Sirion. History The Storia/Sirion was presented as the NCX concept car at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. It was confirmed there for production for 1998. It has a retro inspired design with chrome features. The name "Storia" is Italian for "story/history". The first change to the Storia came in 2000 with new DVVT engines, including a 1300cc one, and minor restyling. It had new tail lights and reverse lights on the left and right, minor change to the front grille, as well as interior style changes and handling refinement. This updated Storia was rolled out in Japan in May 2000 and by the end of the ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Miller Cycle
In engineering, the Miller cycle is a thermodynamic cycle used in a type of internal combustion engine. The Miller cycle was patented by Ralph Miller, an American engineer, dated Dec 24, 1957. The engine may be two- or four-stroke and may be run on diesel fuel, gases, or dual fuel. It uses a supercharger or a turbocharger to offset the performance loss of the Atkinson cycle. This type of engine was first used in ships and stationary power-generating plants, and is now used for some railway locomotives such as the GE PowerHaul. It was adapted by Mazda for their KJ-ZEM V6, used in the Millenia sedan, and in their Eunos 800 sedan (Australia) luxury cars. Subaru combined a Miller-cycle flat-4 with a hybrid driveline for their concept "Turbo Parallel Hybrid" car, known as the Subaru B5-TPH. Nissan introduced a small three-cylinder engine with variable intake valve timing that claims to operate an Atkinson cycle at low load (thus the lower power density is not a handicap) and a ... Desaxe
A desaxe engine, is one in which each cylinder is positioned with its exact center (the bore axis) slightly offset from the center line of the crankshaft. "Désaxé", in French, means "unbalanced". Desaxe engines are usually automotive, but the term can also apply to steam engines. If the offset is in the direction of rotation, it has the effect of increasing the leverage applied to the crankshaft during the "power" stroke, and reducing thrust wasted against the cylinder wall. In a conventional four-stroke engine, each of the strokes (intake, compression, power, exhaust) involves a nominal rotation of 180°, totaling 720° for the complete 4-stroke combustion cycle. A desaxe engine adds to the duration of the two downward strokes (intake and power), and subtracts the same amount from the two upward strokes (compression and exhaust), with the total remaining 720°. A typical desaxe engine will have strokes of 185° - 175° - 185° - 175°, etc., with the differential roughl ...
