Tower Of Terror (Dreamworld)
The Tower of Terror II was a steel roller coaster, steel shuttle roller coaster, shuttle roller coaster located at the Dreamworld (Australia), Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. When the Tower of Terror opened on 23 January 1997, it was the first roller coaster in the world to reach , making it the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world of its time. The ride was situated on the Dreamworld Tower, which also houses The Giant Drop free fall ride. The ride was originally known as the Tower of Terror until it was modified and relaunched in September 2010 as Tower of Terror II. The steel and concrete structure cost A$16 million to construct. The original ride featured a shorter, tunnel, a rigid lap bar using a hydraulic locking system, and would carry 15 passengers at a time. The relaunched ride would take 14 passengers who it propelled to just under with a maximum of 4.5 g and 6.5 seconds of weightlessness. As of 2 ...

Linear Synchronous Motor
A linear motor is an electric motor that has had its stator and rotor "unrolled", thus, instead of producing a torque (rotation), it produces a linear force along its length. However, linear motors are not necessarily straight. Characteristically, a linear motor's active section has ends, whereas more conventional motors are arranged as a continuous loop. Linear motors are used by the millions in high accuracy CNC machining and in industrial robots. In 2024 this market was USD 1.8 billion. A typical mode of operation is as a Lorentz-type actuator, in which the applied force is linearly proportional to the current and the magnetic field (\vec F = I \vec L \times \vec B). Many designs have been put forward for linear motors, falling into two major categories, low-acceleration and high-acceleration linear motors. Low-acceleration linear motors are suitable for maglev trains and other ground-based transportation applications. High-acceleration linear motors are normally rather s ...
