Touro University (New York)
Touro University is a private Jewish university based in New York City, New York. It was founded by Bernard Lander in 1971, and named for Isaac and Judah Touro. It is a part of the Touro University System. Its mission includes a strong focus on "transmitingand perpetuat ngthe Jewish heritage". Touro’s main campus has been located inside 3 Times Square since in January 2023. The high-profile address gives the university significantly more visibility and positions it for further growth. The college has about 5,100 undergraduates, with a teaching staff of 1242, of which over a third are full-time. It has about 6,900 graduate students. About 70% of undergraduates and graduate students are female. Among undergraduates, some 5% are Asian, 13% are black, 11% are Hispanic and 54% are white. The four-year graduation rate is 55%. Orthodox Judaism is a collective term for the traditionalist branches of contemporary Judaism. Kathleen Rice
Kathleen Maura Rice (born February 15, 1965) is an American lawyer and politician who served as the United States representative for New York's 4th congressional district from 2015 to 2023. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Boyd "Rainmaker" Melson (born October 16, 1981) is a retired American light middleweight boxer. As an amateur, Melson won the 48th International Military Sports Council, World Military Boxing Championship gold medal in the weight class, and was a three-time United States Army champion, a three-time NCBA All-American boxer, a four-time West Point Brigade Open Boxing Champion, and received the Colonel Marcus Award. Kenneth P. LaValle (born May 22, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York) is a former American politician. He represented District 1 in the New York State Senate. The district comprises the five East End towns of Long Island, New York, as well as the central and eastern portions of the Town of Brookhaven, New York. The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) is a private medical school with a main campus in the neighborhood of Central Harlem in New York City and additional campuses in Middletown, New York and Great Falls, Montana. Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, commonly known as Touro Law Center, is an ABA accredited law school. It is located on Long Island, New York, in the hamlet of Central Islip.
