''Tourism'' is a live album by the English electronic music group Leftfield released in March 2012 with an accompanying DVD with visuals from their 2011 tour, made by the visual artist collective Ne1co. The album was recorded from 5–18 March 2011 at Future Music Festival across Australia and at The Enmore Theatre, Sydney and The Palace, Melbourne. Leftfield
Leftfield are a British electronic music duo formed in 1989 as the duo of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley (the latter formerly of the Rivals and A Man Called Adam). The duo was very influential in the evolution of electronic music in the 1990s, with ''Mixmag'' describing them as "the single most influential production team working in British dance music". As with many of their contemporaries, such as the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, Leftfield are notable for their use of guest vocalists in their works. Among those involved were Toni Halliday on "Original", Johnny Rotten on " Open Up", Djum Djum on " Afro-Left", and Earl 16 and Cheshire Cat on " Release the Pressure". The term progressive house was coined to define their style, a fusion of house with dub and reggae. There was a hiatus in recording and live performances between 2002 and 2010. "Original" is a song by English electronic duo Leftfield, released on 12" and CD on 13 March 1995. It features singer Toni Halliday on vocals and gave the group their first appearance on ''Top of the Pops'', reaching number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. The beginning of the song is used often on the UK version of '' Big Brother''. Earl Sixteen (b. Biography Daley grew up in Waltham Park Road, Kingston, and, influenced by American soul and Jamaican artists such as Dennis Brown, began his singing career by entering local talent shows. Daley decided to drop out of school to pursue his music career, which prompted his mother to throw him out of the family home. Jess Mills
Jessica Rosemary Frances Mills, commonly known as Jess Mills, is an English singer/songwriter and musician, currently signed to Island Records, who has collaborated with many UK electronic music producers including Photek, Distance and Breakage. Early life and career Mills grew up in Kentish Town, North London. She is the daughter of Labour MP Tessa Jowell and lawyer David Mills, and attended Acland Burghley School; there, she met Niomi McLean-Daley, better known as Ms. Dynamite, becoming friends and, "doing dodgy dance routines in assembly together." After graduating from Sussex University, Mills began working in a local pub to fund a continued interest in music on the side. "Phat Planet" is a song by the English electronic group Leftfield, taken from their album ''Rhythm and Stealth'', released in 1999. It is built on an insistent, two-note bassline, and the heavily distorted vocal of "Phat Planet", spoken by Neil Barnes. "Afrika Shox" is a song by the English electronic group Leftfield, released as the first single from their album ''Rhythm and Stealth'' in 1999, and features the vocal talent of American musician Afrika Bambaataa. It was released on CD and 12" on 6 September 1999 on the Hard Hands record label, published by Chrysalis Music. The song was their highest charting single, reaching #7 in the UK Singles Chart. The song was later used in the 2001 film '' Vanilla Sky'' and was included in the film's soundtrack album. Release The Pressure
"Release the Pressure" is the third single by the English electronic duo Leftfield and the first to involve Paul Daley with writing duties after he joined the group. The song was released exclusively on 12" in 1992. Unlike previous releases that had been released on the Outer Rhythm record label, Leftfield had now officially split from Outer Rhythm. Major labels had offered them deals but neither member wanted to give up creative control to any major company. They formed the Hard Hands record label with "Release the Pressure" being the label's first official release. The song featured reggae singer Earl Sixteen on vocals, with a lyric taken from his 1981 single "Trial and Crosses". "Release the Pressure" made the top 20 in the UK charts and featured at number one in the ''Melody Maker'' "Stone Free Chart of the Year". "Afro-Left" is a song by Leftfield, released as their seventh single. The song was released on 12", CD and cassette on 24 July 1995. It featured Neil Cole (as Djum Djum) on vocals, and it was rumoured that the lyrics were in an unspecified African language; it was later revealed that they were simply gibberish, or "Djum Djum talk". "Song of Life" is the fourth single released by English electronic group Leftfield and the first on a CD single release. The song was released on 12" and CD on 30 November 1992. The sleeve of the single had the footnote "dedicated to the memory of Steve Walters whose support, friendship and encouragement will never be forgotten". It reached #59 in the UK charts. The song was also used as the backing track for Channel 4's '' Dispatches'' programme. The Remix 12" featured two remixes by British electronic music then-trio Underworld: "The Lemon Interrupt Mix", as well as the "Steppin' Razor Mix", which both feature on Sasha & John Digweed's mix album '' Renaissance: The Mix Collection''.
