Toto Cup Ligat Al
The Israel Toto Cup (, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League Ligat Ha'Al; and the Israeli 2nd division Liga Leumit. Both of these leagues are featured separately for the Israel Toto Cup – at a distinct seasonal tournament for each of these two. They are simply referred to as ''Toto Cup Al'' and ''Toto Cup Leumit'', in many global media outlets. From 1999 to 2009, the tournament was also open to clubs from the third division, until the cancellation of Liga Artzit. The Toto Cup is the third most important competition in Israeli football after the Israeli Premier League and the Israeli State Cup. As it isn't highly regarded, Israeli clubs use the games to rotate their squad and give fringe players and youth players a chance. 1975–76 Liga Alef
The 1975–76 Liga Alef season was the last in which Liga Alef was the second tier of Israeli football, as at the end of the season, Liga Artzit came into existence, and became the new second tier, Liga Alef became the third tier. Hapoel Acre (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Yehud (champions of the South Division) promoted to Liga Leumit, both in the first time in their history. The eight clubs which placed between second to fifth in each of their respective regional divisions, with the addition of four clubs which have been relegated from Liga Leumit, formed the new Liga Artzit in the following season. The 1975–76 Liga Leumit season saw Hapoel Be'er Sheva win their second consecutive title. It was the only season to date in which the league had 18 clubs. Four clubs, Hapoel Petah Tikva, Hapoel Hadera, Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Ramat Amidar (in their first season in the top division) were relegated as the league was reduced to 16 clubs the following season. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. The 1975–76 Israeli League Cup () was a cup competition played in the beginning of the 1975–76 season, while the national football team was involved in the 1976 Summer Olympics football tournament qualification. The cup was split into two competitions, for Liga Leumit and Liga Alef. The top tier's competition was played by clubs ranked 1st to 8th in 1974–75 Liga Leumit, while the second tier's competition was played by clubs ranked 1st and 4th in each of 1974–75 Liga Alef division. The competition was played as a knock-out competition. The Liga Leumit League Cup was won by Hapoel Hadera, who had beaten Hapoel Tel Aviv 1–0 in the final.
