Total Engine Concepts MM CB-40
Total Engine Concepts MM CB-40 is a four-stroke, two-cylinder, Half VW aircraft engine. Design and development The engine was progressively developed designed around Volkswagen air-cooled engine components. Global Motors originally designed a Half VW engine for use in light aircraft. The company and its designs were then sold to Mosler Motors. Warren Mosler specialized in racing engines and added the engine to the list of products eventually marketed under the company name Total Engine Concepts. The engine was dropped from production in 1998. The CB-40 was re-engineered to overcome problems of vibration and cooling in the original design. Suited for ultralight use and single seat light sport aircraft, the engine weighs 86 lbs and produces . Flat Engine
A flat engine is a piston engine where the cylinders are located on either side of a central crankshaft. Flat engines are also known as horizontally opposed engines, however this is distinct from the less common opposed-piston engine design, whereby each cylinder has two pistons sharing a central combustion chamber. The most common configuration of flat engines is the boxer engine configuration, in which the pistons of each opposed pair of cylinders move inwards and outwards at the same time. The other configuration is effectively a V engine with a 180-degree angle between the cylinder banks: in this configuration each pair of cylinders shares a single crankpin, so that as one piston moves inward, the other moves outward. Warren Mosler (born September 18, 1949) is an American hedge fund executive and entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of the Center for Full Employment And Price Stability at University of Missouri-Kansas City and the founder of Mosler Automotive. Mosler is a proponent and research financier of Modern Monetary Theory. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Franklin University Switzerland, and in 2014 was appointed visiting professor at the University of Bergamo, Italy. Mosler has run as an independent for multiple offices including: United States president, a delegate to Congress three times, and lieutenant governor.
