''In Harm's Way'' is a 1965 American epic historical romantic war film produced and directed by Otto Preminger and starring John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, and Patricia Neal, with a supporting cast featuring Henry Fonda in a lengthy cameo, Tom Tryon, Paula Prentiss, Stanley Holloway, Burgess Meredith, Brandon deWilde, Jill Haworth, Dana Andrews, and Franchot Tone. Produced with Panavision motion picture equipment, it was one of the last black-and-white World War II epics, and Wayne's last black-and-white film. Torrey, New York
Torrey is a town in Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 1,282 at the 2010 census. The name is taken from that of early county political leader Henry Torrey. The Town of Torrey is in the east central part of the county and is south of Geneva. The town of Torrey is unrelated to the 10,000+ acre Torrey Farms, located in Elba and Potter, which is one of the largest farms in New York. History The town was first settled around 1788 by members of the Society of Universal Friends, a religious group led by a former Quaker preacher known as the Public Universal Friend. The Crooked Lake Canal, opened in 1833, ran across the south part of Torrey. The town was formed on November 14, 1851, from parts of the Town of Benton and Town of Milo. Torrey was the last town formed in the county. Torrey is a town located on State Route 24 in Wayne County, Utah, United States, from Capitol Reef National Park. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 182. History The town was established in the 1880s by settlers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was initially known as Youngtown, after John Willard Young. The town is generally held to be named after Jay L. Torrey from Pittsfield, Illinois. Torrey was a member of the Wyoming legislature, who, upon the advent of the Spanish–American War, achieved national attention by proposing the creation of what became three volunteer cavalry regiments, made up of cowboys and stockmen. Torrey Peak (Wyoming)
Torrey Peak () is located in the northern Wind River Range in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Torrey Peak is in Shoshone National Forest near the southern end of Upper Ross Lake. Hazards Encountering bears is a concern in the Wind River Range. There are other concerns as well, including bugs, wildfires, adverse snow conditions and nighttime cold temperatures. Importantly, there have been notable incidents, including accidental deaths, due to falls from steep cliffs (a misstep could be fatal in this class 4/5 terrain) and due to falling rocks, over the years, including 1993, 2007 (involving an experienced NOLS leader), 2015 and 2018. Other incidents include a seriously injured backpacker being airlifted near SquareTop Mountain in 2005, and a fatal hiker incident (from an apparent accidental fall) in 2006 that involved state search and rescue.
