Torres (musician)
Mackenzie Ruth Scott (born January 23, 1991), known professionally as Torres, is an American indie rock singer-songwriter. Early life and education Mackenzie Ruth Scott was born on January 23, 1991 in Orlando, Florida, and adopted at birth by their birth mother's bible study teacher. They were raised in Macon, Georgia. Brought up in a Christian home, Scott was the youngest of three, having a brother and a sister. At an early age, they learned how to play the flute and piano and sang in the children's choir at their Baptist church. Through ''The Phantom of the Opera'', Scott soon became interested in musical theatre. They started singing in their school's productions. Scott began to perform in musicals, learned to play guitar, and started playing and singing hymns and at a nursing home. Scott attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. ''Sprinter'' is the second studio album by Torres, released May 5, 2015 on Partisan Records. The album was recorded in England and was influenced by Scott's upbringing in Georgia, United States. The album received mostly positive reviews upon release, with critics praising Scott's lyricism. Recording Production ''Sprinter'' was recorded in Bridport with co-producer Rob Ellis and in Bristol with Portishead member Adrian Utley. James Hamilton Leithauser (born April 15, 1978) is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the lead vocalist of the American indie rock band The Walkmen, with whom he wrote and recorded seven studio albums from 2000 to 2014. Prior to The Walkmen's formation, Leithauser and bass guitarist and organist, Peter Matthew Bauer, were both members of The Recoys. Leithauser was born and raised in Washington, DC, and has lived in New York City since the 1990s. Okkervil River is an American rock band led by singer-songwriter Will Sheff. Formed in Austin, Texas, in 1998, the band takes its name from a short story by Russian author Tatyana Tolstaya set on the river Okkervil in Saint Petersburg. Aly Spaltro, better known by her stage name Lady Lamb (formerly called Lady Lamb the Beekeeper) is an American songwriter, musician, composer, and producer. Spaltro first began writing music in 2007 while working at Bart & Greg's DVD Explosion, the local video rental store in her hometown of Brunswick, Maine. Spaltro worked the closing shift, and would experiment with and record music all night into the morning.
