Toronto Waterfront Marathon
The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is a road-running race held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, every year in the second or third Sunday of October. Aside from the actual marathon, the race also includes a half-marathon. The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is considered Canada's most prestigious road race, also acting as the nation's time-trial event during Olympic cycles. The race is one of the elite label marathons in the World Athletics Label Road Races. At the 2013 edition of the race, race winner Deressa Chimsa broke the men's course record with the fastest marathon ever recorded on Canadian soil. In the 2011 edition of the race, race winner Koren Jelela Yal broke the women's course record with the fastest marathon ever recorded on Canadian soil. Anastasia Ndereba
Anastasia Ndereba is a Kenyan female athlete and marathon runner. She was born on September 27, 1974. She is the sister of the more renowned athlete and Olympic Medalist Katherine Ndereba. Her first recorded professional competition was on November 6, 1999, when she completed the 8 km Senior Women's Cross-country race organised by the KAAA, where she finished 4th in a time of 34 minutes and 32 seconds. She debuted as an IAAF athlete officiated by the IAAF in 2001, when she competed in the 3,000 women's B category in Rieti, Italy and emerged 7th with a time of 9 minutes, 12.95 seconds. In 2003, Anastasia compete and lost against her sister in the 10,000 km KAAA race in Kenya. Lioudmila Kortchaguina (, born 26 July 1971) is a Canadian marathon runner of Russian descent. Kortchaguina was born in Yekaterinburg, Soviet Russia, and became a Canadian citizen in June 2005. She has represented Canada internationally in events such as the 2005 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Danny Kassap
Danny Tshindind Kassap (24 June 1982 – 2 May 2011) was a Congolese-Canadian long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. He competed at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie in Canada, and subsequently settled in Toronto. Kassap worked in a fish and chips shop while pursuing a career in running. At the 2004 Toronto Waterfront Marathon, which he won, he achieved his lifetime best time in the marathon, of 2:14:50 hours. Kassap also set a national record for the DR Congo when he ran the 10,000 metres in 28:57.28 minutes, achieved in July 2003 in Hamilton. He finished fifteenth in the 2008 London Marathon. The same year Kassap changed nationality from Congolese to Canadian. He had health problems which started later in 2008, when he collapsed mid-race in the Berlin Marathon. Nicole Dawn Livingstone, AO (born 24 June 1971) is an Australian former competitive swimmer. Since retiring from swimming Livingstone has had careers as a television sports commentator and media presenter and as a sports administrator. She was known for a period as Nicole Stevenson, when she was married to Australian cyclist Clayton Stevenson. Early life Livingstone grew up in Melbourne and started swimming at 9.
