Network For The Promotion Of Asian Cinema
The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) is a worldwide organization of 29 member countries. It was created as the result of a conference on Asian cinema organized by Cinemaya, the Asian Film Quarterly, in New Delhi in 1990 at the instance and with the support of UNESCO, Paris. Headquartered in Singapore, the NETPAC is a pan-Asian film cultural organization involving critics, filmmakers, festival organizers and curators, distributors and exhibitors, as well as film educators. It is considered a leading authority on Asian cinema. Bai Xue (director)
Xue Bai (; name means ''White Snow''; born 15 December 1988 in Heilongjiang) is a female Chinese long-distance runner who specializes in the 10,000 metres. Career Bai won both the 5000 and the 10,000 metres at the 2005 Asian Championships, and she finished fourth in the 10,000 m at the 2006 World Junior Championships. She finished twenty-first in the 10,000 metres at the Olympic Games. She won the Beijing Marathon in 2008. 2009 World Championships The Berlin 2009 Marathon event was Bai's first time taking part in World Championships and only second time taking part in an international marathon. She won the 2009 World Championships Women's Marathon gold medal, becoming the youngest ever women's world marathon champion at the age of 20. Ash or ashes are the solid remnants of fires. Specifically, ''ash'' refers to all non-aqueous, non-gaseous residues that remain after something burns. In analytical chemistry, to analyse the mineral and metal content of chemical samples, ash is the non-gaseous, non-liquid residue after complete combustion. ''The Third Wife'' ( vi, Vợ ba) is a 2018 Vietnamese costume drama film written and directed by Ash Mayfair, in her feature debut. Set in the 19th century, it follows a 14-year-old girl who becomes the third wife to a landowner in rural northern Vietnam. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, where it won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award. It also won the TVE-Another Look Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and the Gold Hugo for New Directors at the Chicago International Film Festival in October 2018. 2017 Toronto International Film Festival
The 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival was held from 7 to 17 September 2017. There were fourteen programmes, with the Vanguard and City to City programmes both being retired from previous years, with the total number of films down by 20% from the 2016 edition. ''Borg/McEnroe'' directed by Janus Metz Pedersen opened the festival. According to a "fact sheet" released by the Festival before it began, this edition included 255 feature-length films and 84 short films. Of the feature films, 147 are claimed to be world premieres. The number of Canadian films at the Festival (including co-productions) is listed as 28 features and 29 shorts.
