Tornby is limited to the south by the railway, in the north by the E4 motorway, to the west by Skäggetorp and Bergsvägen, which is the middle of the three freeway exits and in the east of Stångån. East of Stångån the industrial area Kallerstad is located. Tornby shopping center, which forms the northwest corner of Tornby, is now the second largest shopping mall after Kungens kurva in Stockholm. Some of the shops and restaurants in Tornby shopping center are contained in one building, IKANO house. Linköping ( , ) is a city in southern Sweden, with around 167,000 inhabitants as of 2024. It is the seat of Linköping Municipality and the capital of Östergötland County. Kallerstad
Kallerstad is a city district in Linköping, Sweden, with mostly industrial, commercial and office areas. The district includes Kallerstad, Mörtlösa and Torvinge industrial areas. In 2009, fewer than a hundred people lived in the area. The district is east of Tornby, on the north side of the rail line, and crossed by Kallerstad trail, which is part of the city's outer ring road. About 60 companies have offices in the area. These include Tekniska Verken (the municipal utilities company), Schenker, Urban Partners, Veolia Transport AB and CLM Environmental Engineering. E4 goes all along the northern part of Kallerstad. Skäggetorp
Skäggetorp is a city district in Linköping, Sweden, located northwest of Downtown Linköping, downtown. The buildings are mostly two-story and three-story buildings, both condominiums and apartment buildings, which are built around a large center with office buildings, shops, bank, pharmacy and other services. In the area there are medical and dental offices, schools, child care, nursing home, a Swedish Lutheran church, playing fields and Ullevi allotment area. Construction in Skäggetorp began from the south in the 1960s. In the 1970s, the Ullevi area was built and in 1986, more apartment buildings were constructed at Skäggetorps center. Skäggetorp was part of the Million Programme. In 1965 the population was only 76. But by 1979, the population of Skäggetorp was 9,901. It then decreased and in 2000 about 7,900 people lived there. Stångån is a small river in southern Sweden, 185 km long and with a drainage basin of 2440 km2. It flows from the highlands of eastern Småland in the south to lake Roxen in the north. At the outlet near Linköping, the average discharge is 15 m3 per second. It passes through Vimmerby, Kisa, and Linköping. Kungens Kurva
() is a part of Huddinge Municipality, in Metropolitan Stockholm, Sweden, 20 km south of the city. The area got its name on 28 September 1946, when King Gustav V's chauffeur-driven 1939 Cadillac Series 75#1938–1941, Cadillac skidded off the road and ended up in a ditch (The king was uninjured). The name later became official. Roundabout Dog
A roundabout dog () is a form of street installation that began in Sweden during the autumn of 2006 and continued for the rest of the year. There have been sporadic subsequent recurrences. The phenomenon consists of anonymous people placing homemade dog sculptures, typically made of wood (or sometimes plastic, metal or textile) in roundabouts. Occurrences were reported all over Sweden, and the phenomenon also spread to other countries, including Spain after it was mentioned on television. Linköping Cathedral
Linköping Cathedral () is an active Lutheran church (building), church in the Swedish city of Linköping, the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Linköping in the Church of Sweden. One of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Scandinavia, it is situated opposite Linköping Castle, on a site that has been in use as a church since the 11th century. History Origins The present building is about 800 years old. The church's recorded history on this site begins in the 11th century, with the construction of a wooden church.
