Samal, Davao Del Norte
Samal, officially the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCOS; ; ) is a Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, component city in the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 116,771 people. It is made up of Samal Island and the smaller Talikud Island in Davao Gulf, from the merger of former municipalities of Samal, Babak, and Kaputian. Samal is a part of the Metro Davao, Metropolitan Davao area and is two kilometers away from Davao City, in mainland Mindanao, the largest city and the primary economic center of that island. Etymology The name Samal was derived from the Sama-Bajau peoples, the natives who were the first inhabitants of the island. The first datu on the island was Datu Taganiyug, a native of what is now Peñaplata, today the governance center of the city. Maribojoc, officially the Municipality of Maribojoc (; ), is a municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 22,178 people. The town of Maribojoc, Bohol celebrates its feast on November 24, to honor the town patron Saint Vincent. History Maribojoc was a fishing village when Jesuit priests Juan de Torres and Gabriel Sanchez landed in Baclayon in 1595, bringing Catholicism also to Maribojoc. Fr. Francisco Colín, an early Jesuit historian, listed the town's name as Malabooch and later changed it to Malabohoc. During the pre-Spanish era, the town's name was Dunggoan, meaning "place of anchorage" and referred to the sheltered bay where sailors used to land and engage in business with the early settlers. The Maribojoc parish, officially known as '' Parroquía de Santa Cruz'', was founded in 1767, when the Jesuits left Maribojoc. José Alberto Toril Rodríguez (born 7 July 1973) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder, who most recently managed Liga F club Real Madrid Femenino. He was mainly associated to Real Madrid during his career – although he appeared rarely for the first team, and only amassed La Liga totals of 44 matches and two goals for a total of four clubs, in five seasons – as both a player and a manager (coaching various of its teams). Abeir-Toril is the fictional planet that makes up the ''Forgotten Realms'' ''Dungeons & Dragons'' campaign setting, as well as the Al-Qadim and Maztica campaign settings, and the 1st edition version of the Oriental Adventures campaign setting. The name means "cradle of life" in an archaic fictional language of the setting. It consists of various continents and islands, including Faerûn, Kara-Tur, Zakhara, Maztica, Osse, Anchorome and Katashaka, a sub-Saharan-like continent south of Maztica, where humanity appeared.
