Torfrock
Torfrock (, lit. "Peat Rock") is a German rock group founded by Klaus Büchner and Raymond Voß in 1976. Guitarist Jürgen Lugge from Hamburg played lead guitar until his unexpected death in 1999. With their Northern German identity, they are notable for keeping alive the native Low German language in their lyrics. With many of their songs being Low-German covers of Anglo-American standards, their music style ranges from R'n'B to blues rock and folk rock. Werner (comics)
Werner is a German comics character, appearing in a number of German comic books and animated films. He was created in 1978 by Rötger Feldmann, Brösel (Rötger Feldmann). Werner is the most successful German comic character of all time with over 10 million books sold and over 13 million film admissions. At almost 5 million admissions in Germany, the first movie, ''Werner – Beinhart!'' (1990), is Germany's third most commercially successful film of the 1990s on the German domestic market, and #14 of Germany's most successful domestic market films of all time. Werner – Beinhart!
Werner – Beinhart! (English title: ''Werner and the Wizard of Booze'') is a 1990 German live-action/ adult animated comedy film which was based upon the successful German comic Werner by "Brösel". Production Shooting took place in Kiel, Flensburg and Berlin between June and September 1990. The film contains animated sequences that are embedded in those of the live-action sequences, which form the background story. The football-game-scene is from the comic ''Werner – Alles klar?'' Peat
Peat is an accumulation of partially Decomposition, decayed vegetation or organic matter. It is unique to natural areas called peatlands, bogs, mires, Moorland, moors, or muskegs. Low German
Low German is a West Germanic languages, West Germanic language variety, language spoken mainly in Northern Germany and the northeastern Netherlands. The dialect of Plautdietsch is also spoken in the Russian Mennonite diaspora worldwide. "Low" refers to the altitude of the areas where it is typically spoken. Rollo
Rollo (, ''Rolloun''; ; ; – 933), also known with his epithet, Rollo "the Walker", was a Viking who, as Count of Rouen, became the first ruler of Normandy, a region in today's northern France. Dik Browne
Richard Arthur Allan Browne (August 11, 1917 – June 4, 1989) was an American cartoonist, best known for writing and drawing ''Hägar the Horrible'' and ''Hi and Lois''. Early life and education Dik Browne was born on August 11, 1917, in Manhattan. He attended Cooper Union for a year, then started work at the ''New York Journal-American'' as a copy boy. He later worked in the art department, drawing maps and charts. Career In 1936, photographers and artists were banned from the Lucky Luciano compulsory prostitution trial. Browne slipped in undetected, and his courtroom sketches gave the ''New York Journal-American'' a news exclusive on the story. During World War II, in 1942, Browne joined the United States Army, and was assigned to draw maps and charts for an Army engineering unit, eventually rising to staff sergeant. Rötger Feldmann
Rötger Werner Friedrich Wilhelm Feldmann (born 17 March 1950 in Travemünde), Brösel, is a German comic book artist. He is most famous for creating the character Werner. Life Feldmann completed a lithographer apprenticeship at Nordrepro in Flensburg, after which he was drafted for basic military service where he fell ill with tuberculosis. In 1971 he started work as lithographer at Geisel in Flensburg. Because he drew cartoons and comics all the time – especially caricatures of his superiors – he was dismissed in 1972. Being out of work throughout the 1970s, Brösel mainly drew comics about the „Bakuninis“, an anarchistic family, satirizing the radical left.
