She was born in Bologna, where she trained under Giovanni Gioseffo dal Sole. Life and works Daughter of Antonio Casalini and Antonia Bandiera, she began studying painting with her cousin, Carlo Casalini. However at the age of thirteen she entered the atelier of the prominent Bolognese painter, Giovanni Gioseffo Dal Sole. Here she met her future husband, also a successful painter Felice Torelli, who was regularly sent by the master to the young girl's home to bring her drawings to copy. The two married in 1701, and soon opened their own studio with students. They had seven children, two of whom, Anna and Stefano, became artists. Torelli Theorem
In mathematics, the Torelli theorem, named after Ruggiero Torelli, is a classical result of algebraic geometry over the complex number field, stating that a non-singular projective algebraic curve ( compact Riemann surface) ''C'' is determined by its Jacobian variety ''J''(''C''), when the latter is given in the form of a principally polarized abelian variety. In other words, the complex torus ''J''(''C''), with certain 'markings', is enough to recover ''C''. The same statement holds over any algebraically closed field. From more precise information on the constructed isomorphism of the curves it follows that if the canonically principally polarized Jacobian varieties of curves of genus \geq 2 are ''k''-isomorphic for ''k'' any perfect field, so are the curves. This result has had many important extensions. It can be recast to read that a certain natural morphism, the period mapping, from the moduli space of curves of a fixed genus, to a moduli space of abelian varietie ...

Pomponio Torelli
Pomponio Torelli (1539 – 9 April 1608) was Count of Montechiarugolo and a writer of prose, poetry and plays. He is principally remembered for his five tragedies. Life Torelli was born in 1539 at Montechiarugolo near Parma, which until the creation of the Duchy of Parma in 1545 was in the Duchy of Milan. He was the third son of Paolo Torelli (1509–1545) and his second wife Beatrice Pico della Mirandola (died 1546), who was the great-niece of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola. In 1545 Torelli's father died and he succeeded at the age of six to the title of Count of Montechiarugolo; his mother died in the following year. He was tutored at home by Andrea Casali, then studied at Padova under and Francesco Robortello. In 1566 he was knighted by the second Duke of Parma, Ottavio Farnese, and made ambassador to Flanders.
