Tor Iorapuu
Joe Tor Iorapuu is a professor and the Vice-Chancellor of Benue State University. He was appointed in 2021 following the end of tenure of his predecessor, Msugh Kembe. Career Iorapuu was the Head of Department, Theatre and Film Arts at the University of Jos for two tenure. Msugh Moses Kembe
Msugh Moses Kembe (born Binev Ward, Tombo Mbalagh, Buruku, Local Government Area, Benue State, Nigeria) is an academic and the 5th substantive Vice chancellor of Benue State University. He was appointed by Benue state governor Dr. Samuel Ortom and assumed office on November 3, 2015. Early life and education Kembe attended Bristow Secondary School in Gboko (1974), and received his WASSCE in 1979. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Jos in 1984, a masters in statistics in 1992 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and his Ph.D. in statistics in 2009 at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi. Kembe started his academic career as a lecturer in mathematics and computer science in 1993, becoming a professor in statistics in 2012 at Benue State University. The University of Jos, abbreviated as Unijos, is a federal university in Jos, Plateau State, central Nigeria. History What became the University of Jos was established in November 1971 from the satellite campus of the University of Ibadan. The first students were admitted in January 1972 as pre-degree students and the first Bachelor of Arts degree program began in October 1973. In October 1975, the then Stratocracy, military government under General Murtala Mohammed established the Unijos as a separate institution. Benue State University is a state-owned university in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. In 2006, student enrolment was over 19,000 served by 7 faculties and 23 departments. Samuel Ioraer Ortom (; born 23 April 1961) is a Nigerian politician, businessman, administrator and philanthropist. He was a Minister of State Trade and Investments and the Supervising Minister for Aviation in Nigeria during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. Ortom was elected governor of Benue State as a member of the All Progressives Congress in 2015, though he later defected to the People's Democratic Party. He was re-elected as governor on 29 May 2019. Ortom's tenure ended on 29 May 2023, succeeded by a Catholic priest of the opposition party, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
