Tor Brustad
Tor Brustad (20 December 1926 – 12 September 2016) was a Norwegian biophysicist. Personal life Brustad was born in Nittedal on 20 December 1926, to schoolteacher Johan Ludvig Brustad and Aslaug Kristoffersen. He married Berte-Marie Bjørtomt in 1953. Career Brustad studied physics at the University of Oslo and the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated as cand.mag. in 1951, cand.real. in 1953, and dr.philos. in 1962. He was assigned with the Norwegian Radium Hospital from 1960, and headed the department of medical physics from 1968. He was also appointed professor of radiation physics at the Norwegian Institute of Technology from 1970. Nittedal is a Municipalities of Norway, municipality and city in Akershus Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional region of Romerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rotnes. The parish of ''Nitedal'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Name The name (Old Norse: ''Nitjudalr'') is an old district name. The first element is the genitive case of the river name ''Nitja'' (now Nitelva) and the last element is ''dalr'' which means "valley" or "dale". The meaning of the river name is unknown. The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (, DKNVS) is a Norway, Norwegian learned society based in Trondheim. Order Of St Olav
The Royal Norwegian Order of Saint Olav (; or ''Sanct Olafs Orden'', the old Norwegian name) is a Norwegian order of chivalry instituted by King Oscar I on 21 August 1847. It is named after King Olav II, known to posterity as St. Olav. Just before the union with Sweden was dissolved in 1905, the Order of the Norwegian Lion was instituted in 1904 by King Oscar II, but no appointments were awarded by his successor, King Haakon VII. The Order of St. Olav thus became the kingdom's only order of chivalry for the next 80 years. The Grand Master of the order is the reigning monarch of Norway. It is used to reward individuals for remarkable accomplishments on behalf of the country and humanity.
