Topoliceni
Poiana Teiului is a commune in Neamț County, Western Moldavia, Romania. It is composed of eleven villages: Călugăreni, Dreptu, Galu, Petru Vodă, Pârâul Fagului, Poiana Largului, Poiana Teiului, Roșeni, Ruseni, Săvinești, and Topoliceni. The village of Poiana Largului is located at the north end of Lake Bicaz, at the junction of several national roads (, , and ). It has a viaduct, erected over the last section of the lake. The Petru Vodă Monastery can be reached from Poiana Largului by following a dirt road. Gheorghe Calciu-Dumitreasa
Gheorghe Calciu-Dumitreasa (November 23, 1925 – November 21, 2006) was a Romanian priest and dissident. He was born in Mahmudia, Tulcea County. Beginning with his teens, Calciu-Dumitreasa was involved in the activity of the fascist Iron Guard (also known as the "Legionary Movement"), being first arrested for this in 1942. From 1946 to 1948, he studied at the Faculty of Medicine in Bucharest. He was again arrested in 1948 for continued "Legionary activity" and then condemned in 1949 to 8 years of prison for "conspiracy." In 1956 he was sentenced as one of Eugen Țurcanu's torturers in the "experiment" which had taken place in the Pitești Prison, violent infighting among Iron Guard sympathisers condoned and encouraged by the prison authorities. For his role in the experiment he received a new sentence of 15 years of forced labour, however he was released in May 1963 and assigned compulsory residence. Radu Gyr (; pen name of Radu Ștefan Demetrescu ; March 2, 1905 – 29 April 1975) was a Romanian poet, essayist, playwright, journalist and fascist activist. Biography Early life Born in Câmpulung-Muscel, Gyr was the son of actor Ștefan "Coco" Dumitrescu. When he was 3, his family moved to Craiova, where he did his secondary studies at the Carol I High School. Starting in 1924, he studied at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Bucharest, where he received his Ph.D. in Literature and became a Senior Lecturer. He made his literary debut in 1924 with the well-received volume ''Liniști de schituri'' ("Silence of the sketes"). In 1927 he married Flora, with whom he had a daughter, Simona Luminița.
