''Top Gear'' is a British automotive magazine motoring-themed television programme. It is a revival of the 1977–2001 show of the same name for the BBC, devised by Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman, which premiered on 20 October 2002. The programme expanded upon its earlier incarnation which focused on reviewing cars to incorporate films featuring motoring-based challenges, races, timed laps of notable cars, and celebrity timed laps on a specially designed track. The programme drew acclaim for its visual and presentation style, as well as criticism over the controversial nature of some content. The show was also praised for its humour and lore existing in not just the automotive community but in the form of internet memes and jokes. ''Top Ground Gear Force'' is a one-off TV special, featuring the presenters of BBC's '' Top Gear'', which originally aired on BBC Two at 22:00 GMT on 14 March 2008 as part of Sport Relief 2008. It was repeated on Easter Monday, 2008. It borrowed its format from '' Top Gear of the Pops'', a similar one-off special which aired as part of Comic Relief 2007. ''Top Gear of the Pops'' is a one-off special programme that aired for BBC Two on 16 March 2007, as part of Red Nose Day 2007. The episode combined the elements of '' Top Gear'', with that of BBC music chart show ''Top of the Pops'', the latter of which was cancelled by the BBC in 2006. ''Stars in Fast Cars'' is a motoring-themed celebrity game show, in which celebrities compete in "a series of Wacky Races-esque events to become the fastest star-in-a-car." The series was first broadcast on BBC Three, in 2005, and repeated on BBC One in 2006. Among some of the more notable moments were Car Skittles; a stunt where the guests had to drive on to the back of a moving lorry, before letting them all drive a Ferrari – with a bathtub of water attached to the back which they were not allowed to spill. They were asked to race in a variety of motor-esque machines, from the aforementioned armchairs to Formula 1 cars.
