Tony Weaver (journalist)
Anthony Lee Weaver (born July 28, 1980) is an American professional football coach and former player who is the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served for the Cleveland Browns, the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. Weaver was a college football defensive end at Notre Dame and was drafted by the Ravens in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft. He also previously played for the Texans. Early life Weaver was born in Abilene, Texas on July 28, 1980. He attended Saratoga Springs High School in Saratoga Springs, New York. Playing career Baltimore Ravens Weaver was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2nd round (52nd overall) of the 2002 NFL draft. Fumble
A fumble in gridiron football occurs when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled), scoring, or going out of bounds. By rule, it is any act other than passing, kicking, punting, or successful handing that results in loss of ball possession by a player. Unlike other events which cause the ball to become loose, such as an incomplete pass, a fumbled ball is considered a live ball, and may be recovered and advanced by any member of either team. A fumble may be forced by a defensive player who either grabs or punches the ball or butts the ball with their helmet (a move called "tackling the ball"). 2003 NFL Season
The 2003 NFL season was the 84th regular season of the National Football League (NFL). Regular-season play was held from September 4, 2003, to December 28, 2003. Due to damage caused by the Cedar Fire, Qualcomm Stadium was used as an emergency shelter, and thus the Miami Dolphins–San Diego Chargers regular-season game on October 27 was instead played at Sun Devil Stadium, the home field of the Arizona Cardinals. 2002 Baltimore Ravens Season
The 2002 Baltimore Ravens season was the team's seventh season in the National Football League (NFL). They were unable to improve upon their previous output of 10–6, instead winning only seven games and missing the playoffs for the first time in three years. Baltimore's defense took a large step back from its normally high level of play in 2002. The 2002 NFL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Football League (NFL). The league went back to an even number of teams with the addition of the Houston Texans; the league has remained static with 32 teams since. The clubs were realigned into eight divisions, four teams in each. Also, the Chicago Bears played their home games in 2002 in Champaign, Illinois, at Memorial Stadium because of the reconstruction of Soldier Field. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played.
