Tony Sitford
Jack Anthony Sitford (born 28 January 1940) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward or full back in the Football League for Brighton & Hove Albion. Life and career Sitford was born in Crowborough, East Sussex, in 1940, and joined Brighton & Hove Albion's ground staff as a teenager. He turned professional in March 1959, and made his first-team debut in October 1960, in a League Cup tie away to Notts County. He made most of his 24 first-team appearances the following season, as well as scoring his second senior goal. In February 1962, he put his side ahead after 15 seconds against Second Division leaders Liverpool at Anfield. The ''Liverpool Echo'' was unimpressed: "In 15 seconds Brighton were a goal up. Crowborough
Crowborough is a town and civil parish in East Sussex, England, in the Weald at the edge of Ashdown Forest and the highest town in the High Weald AONB, High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is located south-west of Royal Tunbridge Wells and south of London. It had a population of 21,688 at the 2021 Census, making it the second largest town in inland East Sussex after Hailsham. Anfield is a Association football, football stadium in the area of Anfield (suburb), Anfield, Liverpool, England, which has been the home of Liverpool F.C. since its formation in 1892. The 1970–71 Southern Football League season was the 68th in the history of the league, an English football competition. Yeovil Town won the championship, winning their third Southern League title, whilst Folkestone, Gravesend & Northfleet, Guildford City and Merthyr Tydfil were all promoted to the Premier Division. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from East Anglia, the South and Midlands of England, and South Wales. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 87 clubs which are divided into four divisions. Brunton Park
Brunton Park is a football stadium and the home of Carlisle United. It is situated in the city of Carlisle and has a certified capacity of 17,949. The ground opened in 1909. Brunton Park's grandstand burned down in 1953 and the stadium flooded completely in 2005 and again in 2015. Brunton Park is split into four separate stands: Warwick Road End, East Stand, Main (West) Stand and the Petteril End, which remains closed unless exceptionally large crowds are in attendance. Brunton Park is the largest football stadium in England to still including traditional terracing. Carlisle United
Carlisle United Football Club ( , ) is a professional association football club based in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. The team currently compete in the National League, the fifth level of the English football league system. They have played their home games at Brunton Park since 1909.
