Tony Peraica
Anthony J. "Tony" Peraica (born April 14, 1957) is an American politician from Chicago, Illinois. He was the Cook County Commissioner for the 16th district, and was the unsuccessful Republican nominee for Cook County treasurer in 1998, for president of the Cook County Board of Commissioners in 2006, for Cook County state's attorney in 2008, and for Cook County clerk in 2022. Life Peraica was born in Croatia in 1957, and was orphaned at the age of 11. He came to the United States when he was 13. He lived in Bridgeport, Chicago with his aunt and uncle. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he earned his B.A. in political science. He went on to earn his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1984, and continues to work as a lawyer in private practice at Anthony J. Peraica & Associates. The Cook County State's Attorney functions as the state of Illinois's district attorney for Cook County, Illinois, and heads the second-largest prosecutor's office in the United States. Forrest Edward Claypool is an American politician who has held several positions in the governments of Chicago, Cook County, and the State of Illinois. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Chicago Public Schools from July 27, 2015, until December 8, 2017. Previous offices held by Claypool include Superintendent of the Chicago Park District from 1993 to 1998, Chief of Staff to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and President of the Chicago Transit Authority. Lyons Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 111,688, with its most populous municipalities including La Grange (pop. 15,550), Justice (pop. 12,926) and Summit (pop. 11,054). Lyons Township was established in 1850. The village of Lyons, almost all of which lies within the township, is often confused with it. The township hall is located at 6404 S. Maria Pappas
Maria Pappas is an American attorney, Greek American, and politician who has served as the Cook County Treasurer since 1998. Prior to that, she served two terms on the Cook County Board of Commissioners; first as one of ten members elected from Chicago and then, after the board moved to single-member constituencies, as the member from the 10th district. Early life Pappas was born June 7, 1949 in Warwood, a neighborhood of Wheeling, West Virginia, to first generation Greek American parents. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from West Liberty State College and a master's degree in counseling at West Virginia University. She then relocated to Chicago to work at the Adler Institute with Rudolf Dreikurs. She earned her Ph.D. from Loyola University in 1976.
