Tony Newman (drummer)
Richard Anthony Newman (born 17 March 1943) is an English rock drummer. He was at various times a member of the bands Sounds Incorporated, May Blitz, Three Man Army, T. Rex, and Boxer. He has performed with Little Richard, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, George Harrison, Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton, Donovan, Mick Ronson, Gene Vincent, Crystal Gayle, The Everly Brothers and others. In 1965, Newman played with Sounds Incorporated as one of the acts opening for the Beatles at Shea Stadium in New York City. He played on Donovan's " Barabajagal" (1968),Donovan, ''Troubadour: The Definitive Collection, 1964–1976'', Epic Legacy CD 46986: Liner notes. and on Jeff Beck's '' Beck-Ola'' (1969). Marc (TV Series)
''Marc'' is a British television series presented by T. Rex's lead singer Marc Bolan. It was produced in Manchester by Granada Television for the ITV network. A second series was planned but Bolan died before it could be produced. Produced by Muriel Young and directed by Nicholas Ferguson, it ran for six weekly episodes in the autumn of 1977, before its host died in a car crash on 16 September that year. A pop music show with a very limited budget and markedly low production values, it gave Bolan a chance to showcase punk bands such as Generation X, the Jam, Radio Stars and Eddie and the Hot Rods. T. Rex lip synced at least three songs each week, with Bolan's guitar never appearing to be plugged in, a mixture of new versions of their old hits, and fresh tracks, while the guests were slotted in between. Marc Bolan
Marc Bolan ( ; born Mark Feld; 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977) was an English guitarist, singer-songwriter and poet. He was a pioneer of the glam rock movement in the early 1970s with his band T. Rex (band), T. Rex. Bolan strongly influenced artists of many genres, including glam rock, Punk rock, punk, post-punk, New wave music, new wave, indie rock, Britpop and alternative rock. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 as a member of T. Rex. In the late 1960s, he rose to fame as the founder and leader of the psychedelic folk band Tyrannosaurus Rex, with whom he released four critically acclaimed albums and had one minor hit "Debora". Herbie Flowers
Brian Keith "Herbie" Flowers (19 May 1938 – 5 September 2024) was an English musician specialising in bass guitar, double bass and tuba. He was a member of groups including Blue Mink, T. Rex and Sky and was also a prolific session musician. Flowers contributed to recordings by Elton John, Camel, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Roy Harper, David Essex, Al Kooper, Bryan Ferry, Harry Nilsson, Cat Stevens, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. He also played bass on '' Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds''. Dino Dines
Peter Leslie "Dino" Dines (17 December 1944 – 28 January 2004) was a British keyboard player, best known for his work as a member of T. Rex. He was also a member of the Apostolic Intervention and the Keef Hartley Band. Early career Dines was a member of the Apostolic Intervention alongside future Humble Pie/Syd Barrett drummer Jerry Shirley. Their song " (Tell Me) Have You Ever Seen Me?" was donated by future Humble Pie frontman Steve Marriott. Later, Dines played in the Keef Hartley Band, fronted by his future T. Rex bandmate Miller Anderson, also contributing keyboards to Anderson's first solo album, ''Bright City''. During Dines' tenure they released the albums '' Halfbreed'' and ''The Battle of North West Six''. He later returned for the album '' Overdog''. T. Rex Dines joined T. ''Tommy'' is a 1975 British psychedelic musical fantasy drama film written and directed by Ken Russell and based on The Who's 1969 rock opera album '' Tommy'' about a psychosomatically deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes a pinball champion and religious leader. The film featured a star-studded ensemble cast, including the members of The Who themselves (most notably, lead singer Roger Daltrey, who plays the title role), Oliver Reed, Ann-Margret, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, Robert Powell and Tina Turner. ''Tommy'' is a soundtrack album by The Who with contributions from numerous artists. The soundtrack was used in the 1975 ''Tommy'' film that was based on the original album that was released by The Who in 1969. Pete Townshend oversaw the production of this double-LP recording that returned the music to its rock roots, and on which the unrecorded orchestral arrangements he had envisaged for the original ''Tommy'' LP were realised by the extensive use of synthesiser. The soundtrack LP also employed many leading sessions musicians including Caleb Quaye, Phil Chen and Nicky Hopkins (who also receives a "Special Thanks" in the album credits for help with the arrangements) as well as members of The Faces' Ronnie Wood and future Keith Moon replacement Kenney Jones. ''David Live'' is the first official live album by the English musician David Bowie, originally released through RCA Records in October 1974. The Diamond Dogs Tour was a concert tour by the English singer-songwriter David Bowie in North America in 1974 to promote the studio album '' Diamond Dogs'', which was released the same year.
