Tony McGuinness (Irish Musician)
Anthony McGuinness (born 1 January 1961) is an English-born Irish musician bassist formerly of the Irish rock band Aslan. Career He originally started his music career as a drummer in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but switched to bass guitar soon after being influenced by watching his cousin Steve Garvey on bass guitar for UK punk outfit The Buzzcocks. He is one of the co-founders of Aslan, and wrote many of their most popular songs including "She's So Beautiful", "Comfort Me", "Jealous Little Thing", "Sooner Or Later" and "Here Comes The Sun". He also produced some of the band's b-sides. He is highly regarded by fellow musicians and critics as an outstanding bass player/acoustic & songwriter, with an unorthodox and unique playing style which ultimately gave Aslan's music that distinctive sound. Aslan (band)
Aslan are an Irish rock band from Dublin who formed in 1982. Composed originally of Christy Dignam, Joe Jewell, Tony McGuinness, Billy McGuinness, and Alan Downey, the band has released six studio albums: ''Feel No Shame'' (1988), ''Goodbye Charlie Moonhead'' (1994), ''Here Comes Lucy Jones'' (1997), ''Waiting For This Madness To End'' (2001), ''For Some Strange Reason'' (2007) and ''Nudie Books and Frenchies'' (2012). History Aslan took their name from the fictional lion in C.S. Lewis's series of books chronicling the land of Narnia (Aslan is the Turkish word for "Lion"). The A-side and B-side are the two sides of vinyl records and cassettes, and the terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The Script
The Script are an Irish Soft rock, soft-rock band formed in 2001 in Dublin. The band currently consists of Danny O'Donoghue (lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Glen Power (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Benjamin Seargent (bass, backing vocals) and Ben Weaver (guitar). The Buzzcocks
Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band that singer-songwriter-guitarist Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto formed in Manchester in 1976. During their career, the band combined elements of punk rock, power pop, and pop punk. They achieved commercial success with singles that fuse pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy; these singles were later collected on ''Singles Going Steady'', an acclaimed compilation album music journalist and critic Ned Raggett described as a "punk masterpiece".
