Tony Harrington
Tony Harrington is an English football referee who referees in the English Premier League. Harrington was promoted to Select Group 1 in June 2021. Career Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance aged 14, after completing a refereeing course whilst at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College as part of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. After four years as an EFL assistant referee and four years as a National League referee, Harrington was appointed to the EFL Referees List at the start of the 2012–13 season. Harrington was promoted to a Select Group 2 referee in 2016. On 22 May 2021, Harrington refereed the 2021 FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium. Only eight days later, Harrington was back at Wembley when he officiated the 2021 EFL League One play-off Final between Blackpool and Lincoln City. Tommy McGuigan (footballer)
Thomas McGuigan (22 November 1922 – 14 December 1997) was a Scottish footballer who played for Ayr United, Hartlepools United and Spennymoor United. Playing career McGuigan began his playing career in 1922 with Ayr United. He played 74 times for Ayr, scoring 21 times. In 1950, McGuigan moved to English side Hartlepools United. McGuigan played 325 times for the club and was in the top 10 all time appearances list for Pools, until 2021 when he his tally was overtaken by Gary Liddle. He scored 79 times for Hartlepools including hat tricks against Halifax Town and Stockport County. As of 2022, McGuigan remains in the top 10 of the all time top goal scorers list for Hartlepool. His service to the club earned him a benefit game against Newcastle United in 1956 which Hartlepools won 6–3. After leaving Hartlepools, McGuigan played for Spennymoor United. Referee (association Football)
In association football, the referee is the person responsible for interpreting and enforcing the Laws of the Game during a match. The referee is the final decision-making authority on all facts connected with play, and is the match official with the authority to start and stop play and impose disciplinary action against players and coaches during a match. At most levels of play the referee is assisted by two assistant referees (formerly known as linesmen), who advise the referee on whether the ball leaves the playing area and any infringements of the Laws of the Game occurring outside of the view of the referee. The final decision on any decision of fact rests with the referee who has authority to overrule an assistant referee.
