Tony Gilkyson
Tony Gilkyson (born August 6, 1952) is an American musician based in Los Angeles. He is known for membership in the groups Lone Justice and X (U.S. band), X. Career He is the son of Jane Gilkyson and songwriter/folk musician Terry Gilkyson, as well as the brother of singer-songwriter Eliza Gilkyson. Gilkyson is a former member of Lone Justice. He was member of the band X (U.S. band), X from 1986 to 1995 where he replaced Billy Zoom after his departure and played on two studio albums (''See How We Are'' and ''Hey Zeus!'') and two live albums (''Live at the Whisky a Go-Go (X album), Live at the Whiskey a Go-Go'' and ''Unclogged''). Billy Zoom (born Stuart Tyson Kindell; February 20, 1948) is an American guitarist, best known as one of the founders of the punk rock band X. Early life The son of a big band woodwinds player, Kindell began playing a variety of instruments, including violin, accordion, piano, clarinet, tenor, alto, and baritone saxophones, flute, banjo, and guitar. Upon moving to Los Angeles in the 1960s, he worked as a session guitarist while attending technical school for training in electronics repair. He has a reputation as an expert in the maintenance, restoration, and modification of vintage tube amplifiers and combo organs. ''See How We Are'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band X, released in 1987 by Elektra Records. It was their first album without founding guitarist Billy Zoom, who was replaced by ex- Blasters guitarist Dave Alvin for the album's recording sessions and some live shows. Eliza Gilkyson (born August 24, 1950, Hollywood, California) is an American folk musician based in Taos, New Mexico.Gilkyson moved her base from Austin, Texas, to Taos in 2020. Gilkyson is a two-time Grammy Award nominee, receiving a nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2004 and Best Folk Album in 2014. Career Gilkyson released ''Eliza '69'', her first album, in 1969 while raising a family in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She didn't come out with her second, ''Love from the Heart'', until ten years later. She moved to Austin, Texas, in 1981 and released the commercial album ''Pilgrims'' before moving to Los Angeles in 1987.
