Tony Chursky
Tony Chursky (born June 13, 1953, in New Westminster, Canada) is a former Canadian national soccer team and NASL goalkeeper. Playing career Chursky grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and attended Simon Fraser University where he graduated with a degree in English Literature. He is of Ukrainian descent. He joined the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 1976 and finished with the league's best record for goalkeepers. Despite that, he did not gain any official recognition, whether as an All Star or Rookie of the Year. Chursky played three seasons for the Seattle Sounders before being traded to the California Surf for Al Trost in January 1979. The Surf turned around and traded him to the Chicago Sting later that season. In and finally the Toronto Blizzard. New Westminster (colloquially known as New West) is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. Soccer Bowl '77
Soccer Bowl '77 was the championship final of the 1977 NASL season. The New York Cosmos (who had dropped "New York" from their name in the off-season to simply "Cosmos") took on the Seattle Sounders. The match was played on August 28, 1977 at Civic Stadium, in Portland, Oregon. The game was also noteworthy as the final competitive match for Pelé, the Brazilian star widely acknowledged as the sport's greatest player. The Cosmos won the match, 2–1, to claim their second North American championship. The match was broadcast on TVS. Venue Civic Stadium (now called Providence Park) in Portland, Oregon, was selected as the host of Soccer Bowl '77 by the NASL on October 15, 1976. Tino Lettieri
Martino "Tino" Lettieri (born 27 September 1957) is a former NASL and MISL professional soccer goalkeeper, who represented Canada twice at the Summer Olympics: 1976 and 1984 and at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Club career Lettieri began his pro career with the Montreal Castors in the National Soccer League in 1976. In 1977, he played with the Minnesota Kicks in the North American Soccer League and played there until 1981. He went on to play the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1982 and 1983 and the Minnesota Strikers in 1984. He was named NASL North American Player of the Year in 1983 and had the league's best Goals Against Average in both 1982 and 1983. Lettieri was a regular in the original MISL. The Guadeloupe national football team () represents the French overseas department and region of Guadeloupe in men's international football. The team is controlled by the Ligue guadeloupéenne de football (), a local branch of the FFF. As an overseas department of the French Republic, Guadeloupe is an integral part of France and is not a member of FIFA and is therefore not eligible to enter the FIFA World Cup or any competition organized first-hand by the organization. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Steve Buttle
Stephen A. Buttle (1 January 1953 – 5 June 2012) was an English professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He spent six seasons in England, six in the North American Soccer League and at least three in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Career Buttle was born in Norwich. In 1971, he began his professional career with Ipswich Town, but never played a first team game before being sent to AFC Bournemouth in 1973. In 1977, Buttle signed with the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League. In the summer of 1981, he rejected an overture from Norwich City to sign him in order to remain with the Sounders. Ironically, the Sounders released him in 1982.
