Tonic water is a carbonated soft drink in which quinine is dissolved. Originally used as a prophylactic against malaria, modern tonic water typically has a significantly lower quinine content and is often more sweetened than the original medicinal form. It is consumed for its distinctive bitter flavor. Tonic Sol-fa (a Cappella Group)
Tonic sol-fa (or tonic sol-fah) is a pedagogical technique for teaching sight-singing, invented by Sarah Anna Glover (1786–1867) of Norwich, England and popularised by John Curwen, who adapted it from a number of earlier musical systems. It uses a system of musical notation based on movable do solfège, whereby every note is given a name according to its relationship with other notes in the key: the usual staff notation is replaced with anglicized solfège syllables (e.g. the syllable ''la'' for the submediant) or their abbreviations (''l'' for ''la''). "''Do''" is chosen to be the tonic of whatever key is being used (thus the terminology ''moveable Do'' in contrast to the ''fixed Do'' system used by John Pyke Hullah). ''Tonic'' is a 2021 Indian Bengali-language family drama film directed by Avijit Sen, produced by Atanu Raychaudhuri and distributed jointly by Bengal Talkies and Dev Entertainment Ventures. The film revolves around an elderly couple, portrayed by Paran Bandopadhyay and Shakuntala Barua, who get to enjoy a fresh lease of life through their tourist guide, Tonic ( Dev). Tonic marked the directorial debut of ''Avijit Sen'', who had previously worked as an assistant director to Rajkumar Hirani. Mohair (pronounced ) originated from the Arabic word �هيرand it is a fabric or yarn made from the hair of the Angora goat (not Angora wool from the fur of the Angora rabbit). Both durable and resilient, mohair is lustrous with high sheen, and is often blended to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair takes dye exceptionally well. It feels warm in winter due to excellent insulating properties, while moisture-wicking keeps it cool in summer. It is durable, naturally elastic, flame-resistant and crease-resistant. It is considered a luxury fiber, like cashmere, alpaca, angora, and silk, and is more expensive than most sheep's wool. Mohair is composed mostly of keratin, a protein in the hair, wool, horns and skin of all mammals, but mohair's special properties are unique to the Angora goat. ''Tonic'' is a live album by experimental jazz fusion trio Medeski Martin & Wood recorded at Tonic in New York City from March 16–20 and 23–26, 1999. Medeski Martin & Wood played their first live performance at Tonic on July 4, 1998, not long after the club opened in the Spring of 1998. Like their first album, '' Notes from the Underground'', ''Tonic'' was recorded in their original acoustic format: piano, bass and drums. This format was replaced by electric alternatives brought about by the restrictions of touring during the early 1990s. ''Tonic'' is the fourth studio album by modern rock band Tonic. The project was originally announced in 2008, with writing and recording carrying through summer and fall of 2009. Recorded primarily at Conway Studios in Hollywood, California, the album was co-produced by Tonic and Nathaniel Kunkel. Critical reception to ''Tonic'' was generally positive. The album was released on May 4, 2010 in North America, and spent one week on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart, where it ranked 150. The band subsequently embarked on a tour to coincide with this album's release. Production Band member Jeff Russo originally announced plans to record this album in November 2008 when he concurrently announced Tonic was reuniting after nearly four years.
