Toni Hellon
Toni Hellon (born September 14, 1946) was a member of the Arizona State Senate from January 2001 until January 2007. Prior to running for the Senate, Hellon held several government positions in Pima Countyduring the 1990s, including Chief Deputy Clerk and Chief Deputy Recorder. She was first elected to the House in November 2000, representing District 12. After redistricting in 2002, she won re-election to the Senate in District 26. Hellon won re-election again in 2004, but during her re-election bid for the November 2006 election, she was defeated in the Republican primary by Al Melvin, who lost a very close race in the general election to Charlene Pesquiera. Ann Day
Eleanor Ann Day (August 10, 1938 – May 7, 2016) was an American politician, educator, and psychologist who served as a member of the Arizona Senate from 1990 to 2000. Day was the younger sister of Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Early life and education Born in El Paso, Texas, Day received her bachelor's degree in education from Arizona State University and her master's degree in counseling and guidance from University of Arizona. Career Day taught in the Alhambra and Tucson School Districts in Arizona. She also was a marriage and family therapist for the Pima County Conciliation Court. Day served in the Arizona Senate from 1990 to 2000 as a Republican. She then served on the Pima County, Arizona Board of Supervisors from 2000 to 2012. Arizona 26th Legislative District
Arizona's 26th legislative district is one of 30 in the state, consisting of a section of Maricopa County. As of 2023, there are 34 precincts in the district, all in Maricopa, with a total registered voter population of 81,300. The district has an overall population of 237,193. Following the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) redrew legislative district boundaries in Arizona. The 26th district was drawn as a majority Latino constituency, with 61% of residents being Hispanic or Latino. According to the AIRC, the district is outside of competitive range and considered leaning Democratic. Charlene Pesquiera
Charlene Pesquiera is a Democratic politician from the US state of Arizona. She served as Arizona State Senator for District 26 from 2007 until 2008, when she declined to run for re-election. She is currently the Justice of the Peace for Pima County Precinct Four, which she was elected to in 2016. Personal Pesquiera was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1971. She received and Associate's degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections at Pima Community College, a Pre Law and Criminal Justice degree at Prescott College, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate. There is currently 16 women serving in the Senate after Raquel Terán was appointed, making it the first time a majority of the body was composed of female members.
