Tonga National Netball Team
The Tonga national netball team ( to, timi netipolo fakafonua ʻa Tonga) represents Tonga in international women's netball. Although netball has been played in Tonga, they joined the International Netball Federation in 2011. Tonga won bronze at the South Pacific Games in 1983, 1991 and 1995. On 21 July 2019, Tonga Re-entered at nineteenth in the INF World Rankings. In June 2022 the team was renamed the Tonga Tala. They were undefeated at the 2023 Oceania Netball World Cup Qualifiers, and qualified for the 2023 Netball World Cup. Following the qualifiers they were ranked 9th in the world. In March 2023 they rose to 7th ranked following the PacificAus Series. Tonga (, ; ), officially the Kingdom of Tonga ( to, Puleʻanga Fakatuʻi ʻo Tonga), is a Polynesia, Polynesian country and archipelago. Marie Hansen (netball)
Marie Hansen (1918–1969) was one of the first female photojournalism, photojournalists employed by ''Life (magazine), Life'' magazine. She joined the magazine in 1941 and was based in Washington, D.C. during the rest of the decade. Within a month of her appointment as staff photographer, she produced a essay#Photography, photographic essay on the training of the first women officers in the Women's Army Corps, Women's Auxiliary Army Corps. Her photos from that assignment were featured in an exhibition held by the New-York Historical Society in 2019. Pacific Games
The Pacific Games (French: Jeux du Pacifique), is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2019 in Apia, Samoa. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. The Pacific Games Council (PGC) organises the Games and oversees the host city's preparations. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams. In each sporting event, gold medals are awarded for first place, silver medals are awarded for second place, and bronze medals are awarded for third place. Nine different cities in six countries and territories have hosted the Pacific Games. Hulita Veve
Hulita Veve (born 14 September 1995), previously known as Hulita Haukinima, is an Tongan netball player. Haukinima was a member of the Queensland Firebirds team that won the 2016 ANZ Championship. She has also played for Queensland Fusion in the Australian Netball League and for Firebirds in Suncorp Super Netball. In 2014 she was captain of the Queensland under-19 team that won their Australian National Netball Championships tournament. In 2019 she captained the QUT Wildcats team that won the inaugural HART Sapphire Series title. Early life, family and education Haukinima was born-and-raised in Queensland. She grew up in the Beenleigh and Marsden suburbs of Logan City. She attended Marsden State School and Marsden State High School. Cathrine Tuivaiti (née Latu; born 25 October 1986 in West Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player of Tongan, Samoan, and Māori descent. Career Early career Cathrine Tuivaiti was a member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools and New Zealand U21 teams, and debuted in the National Bank Cup with the Northern Force in 2005. She continued with the team for a further two years, and remained in Auckland with the start of the ANZ Championship in 2008, playing for the new Northern Mystics franchise. Northern Mystics Playing for Northern Force as a teenager attracted the attention of people with Samoan netball contacts and, despite having little Samoan ancestry, Tuivaiti was invited to play at international level for Samoa, including playing for them in the 2007 Netball World Championships in Auckland. Central Manawa
Central Manawa are a New Zealand netball team based in Wellington. Since 2016 they have represented Netball Central in the National Netball League. Netball Central is the governing body that represents the Hawke's Bay, Manawatū-Whanganui, Taranaki and Wellington Regions. They are effectively the reserve team of Central Pulse.
