The V.League 1 (), also called LPBank V.League 1 for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF). It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League Two. The league was founded in 1980 as the All Vietnam Football Championship, with Tổng Cục Đường Sắt being the first winner. The league turned professional in the 2000–01 season, which allowed clubs to hire foreign players. Lê Khắc Chính (born 14 November 1956) is a Vietnamese football manager and former footballer. Career Khắc Chính played as a defender, spent his entire career playing for Tổng Cục Đường sắt. Lê Thụy Hải (1 January 1946 – 7 May 2021) was a Vietnamese association football, football player and manager. Playing career Lê Thụy Hải played for Tong Cuc Duong Sat, Tổng Cục Đường Sắt between 1965 and 1980, and also played for the Vietnam national football team, Vietnam national team. Coaching career After retiring as a player in 1980, Lê Thụy Hải began his coaching career in 1995 with Tong Cuc Duong Sat, Tổng Cục Đường Sắt as an assistant coach. He later managed Becamex Binh Duong FC, Binh Duong, leading them to 3 national championships. He also managed clubs including SHB Da Nang FC, Da Nang, Thanh Hóa F.C. Mai Đức Chung
Mai Đức Chung (born 21 June 1951) is a Vietnamese former football player and coach, currently serving as the manager of the Vietnam women's national football team. As of 2023, he is the oldest head coach of any national football team—men's or women's—at the FIFA World Cup. Playing career Mai Đức Chung was a versatile player who could play in multiple positions. His preferred positions were midfielder or striker, but when needed, he could also play as a defender. During his peak, he was nicknamed "Chung Athletics" due to his tireless running ability. Starting his career as a player, he received offers from prominent clubs of the time, such as Tổng cục Đường sắt and Công an Hà Nội. Trần Duy Long
Trần Duy Long (born 1941) is a Vietnamese football manager and former footballer. Career In 1973, Duy Long returned to Vietnam after graduating from the Kiev University on Physical Education and Sportm and became the coach of Tổng Cục Đường sắt, contributing greatly to promoting the team from the Second Division to the First Division. In 1980, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a coach at the Professional Talent School and then worked at the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation. In 1994, he was appointed as the acting head coach of the Vietnam national football team. In 1995, he served as the assistant coach of the national team participating in the 1995 SEA Games, winning a silver medal. Team sports Australian rules football Australian rules football has been played in Vietnam since 1998, when the Saigon Saints was formed by expatriate Australians.
