Tones Of Home
"Tones of Home" is a song by American rock band Blind Melon, released in 1992 as their first single. It reached number 20 on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. After the breakthrough success of the next single, "No Rain", "Tones of Home" was released again with a new video, a sequel to the "No Rain" video and its " Bee Girl" storyline. Upon it re-release, the song reached number 10 on the ''Billboard'' Album Rock Tracks chart. "Tones of Home" appears on Blind Melon's '' self-titled debut album as well as the '' Tones of Home: The Best of Blind Melon'' compilation and the '' Classic Masters'' compilation. Blind Melon
Blind Melon is an American rock band formed in 1990 in Los Angeles by five musicians: three from Mississippi, one from Pennsylvania and one from Indiana. The band currently consists of guitarists Rogers Stevens and Christopher Thorn, drummer Glen Graham, vocalist Travis Warren and bassist Nathan Towne. They are best known for their 1993 hit " No Rain", and enjoyed critical and commercial success in the early 1990s with their neo-psychedelic take on alternative rock. Blind Melon released two albums on Capitol Records – '' Blind Melon'' (1992) and ''Soup'' (1995) – before their original lead vocalist Shannon Hoon died of a drug overdose on the band's tour bus in New Orleans on October 21, 1995. After four years of unsuccessfully searching for a replacement for Hoon, Blind Melon officially dissolved in 1999. The Tower Theatre is a historic movie theater that opened in 1927 in the Broadway Theater District of Downtown Los Angeles. History The Tower Theatre, at South Broadway and West Eighth Street, was commissioned by H.L. Gumbiner. He would also build the Los Angeles Theatre in 1931. The Tower was the first theater designed by architect S. Charles Lee. Seating 900 on a tiny site (50 feet wide by 153 feet long), replacing the 650-seat 1911 Garrick Theatre, it was designed in powerful Baroque Revival style with innovative French, Spanish, Moorish, and Italian elements all executed in terra-cotta. Its interior was modeled after the Paris Opera House. Its exterior features a prominent clock tower, the very top of which was removed after an earthquake. Samuel David Bayer (born February 17, 1962) is an American visual artist, cinematographer, and commercial, music video and film director. Bayer was born in Syracuse, New York. ''Blind Melon'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Blind Melon, released on September 22, 1992 through Capitol Records. " No Rain" became Blind Melon's breakthrough single. Background In 1990, lead singer Shannon Hoon moved from Indiana to Los Angeles, California. Soon he met guitarist Rogers Stevens and bassist Brad Smith, Mississippi natives who had come to Los Angeles a year earlier. They began playing together and then recruited a second guitarist, Christopher Thorn. The foursome then looked for a drummer in the local area, but months passed and their search was unsuccessful. Stevens and Smith eventually persuaded Glen Graham to come to Los Angeles and join the band. After Blind Melon recorded a four song demo called ''The Goodfoot Workshop'', Capitol Records became interested and signed them in 1991 although they never released the band's demo as an EP.
