Tomoharu Tsunogai
is a Japanese artistic gymnast. He was part of the gold medal winning team at the 2023 Junior World Championships where he also won gold on parallel bars and horizontal bar. Gymnastics career Tsunogai competed at the 2023 Junior World Championships alongside Haruto Kamiyama and Masaharu Tanida; together they won gold as a team. During individual finals he placed fourth in the all-around, seventh on floor exercise, fifth on rings, and won gold on parallel bars and horizontal bar. In 2025 Tsunogai competed at the DTB Pokal Team Challenge where he helped Japan place first as a team; individually he won gold on the parallel bars. At the 2025 Asian Championships he once again helped Japan win gold as a team. Pommel Horse
The pommel horse, also known as vaulting horse, is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. Traditionally, it is used by only male gymnasts. Originally made of a metal frame with a wooden body and a leather cover, the modern pommel horse has a metal body covered with foam rubber and leather, with plastic pommels (handles). A similar apparatus designed for physical education lessons is called a vaulting buck. Apparatus History The apparatus originates from the Romans, who used wooden horses to teach mounting and dismounting. They later added it to the ancient Olympic Games. Horizontal Bar
The horizontal bar, also known as the high bar, is an apparatus used by male gymnasts in artistic gymnastics. It traditionally consists of a cylindrical metal (typically steel) bar that is rigidly held above and parallel to the floor by a system of cables and stiff vertical supports. Gymnasts typically wear suede leather grips while performing on the bar. The current elite-level competition uses a stainless steel core rail. The gymnastics elements performed on the horizontal bar are regulated by a Code of Points. A bar routine, which is a sequence of several bar skills, usually includes giants with various grips (overgrip, undergrip, dorsal grip, mixed grip), in-bar work, turns, release and regrasp skills, and a dismount. Parallel bars are floor apparatus consisting of two wooden bars approximately long and positioned at above the floor. Parallel bars are used in artistic gymnastics and also for physical therapy and home exercise. Gymnasts may optionally wear grips when performing a routine on the parallel bars, although this is uncommon.
