Tommy Everidge
Thomas James Everidge (born April 20, 1983) is an American former professional first baseman who is currently the minor league hitting coach for the Washington Nationals. Amateur career Everidge attended Sonoma Valley High School in Sonoma, California. He attended Sonoma State University. His freshman year, Everidge batted .340 with 55 hits, seven doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 40 RBIs in 56 games, 47 starts. Everidge batted .353 his sophomore season, with 22 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, and 44 RBIs in 57 games, all starts. His junior and final season, Everidge batted .357 with 14 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs and 69 RBIs in 65 games, 64 starts. Everidge was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 10th round (307th overall) of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. First Baseman
A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The first baseman is responsible for the majority of plays made at that base. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the first baseman is assigned the number 3. Also called first sacker or cornerman, the first baseman is ideally a tall player who throws left-handed and possesses good flexibility and quick reflexes. Stockton Ports
The Stockton Ports are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Athletics. They are located in Stockton, California, and are named for the city's seaport. The team plays its home games at Banner Island Ballpark which opened in 2005 and seats over 5,000 people. The Ports were established in 1941 as members of the California League and have won the California League championship 11 times. History Baseball first came to Stockton in the 1860s. In team sports, a most valuable player (MVP) award is an honor typically bestowed upon an individual (or individuals, in the instance of a tie) whose individual performance is the greatest in an entire league, for a particular competition, or on a specific team. The purpose of the award is to recognize the contribution of the individual's efforts amongst a group effort, and to highlight the excellence, exemplariness, and/or outstandingness of a player's performance amidst the performance of their peers in question. In baseball, a stolen base occurs when a runner advances to a base unaided by other actions and the official scorer rules that the advance should be credited to the action of the runner. Midwest League
The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The Midwest League began as the Illinois State League (1947–1948) and then became the Mississippi–Ohio Valley League (1949–1955). The Vancouver Canadians are a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) team located in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are members of the Northwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Daniel Barone (baseball)
Daniel Edward Barone (born April 24, 1983) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Barone attended Sonoma State University, an NCAA Division II school in Rohnert Park, California. He was an 11th-round selection of the Marlins in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. Career He was called up on August 10, , to become the fifth starting pitcher in the Florida Marlins rotation, filling the empty spot after Florida sent Byung-hyun Kim to the Arizona Diamondbacks on waivers. He went to the bullpen when the Diamondbacks released Kim, and the Marlins picked him back up. Barone became a free agent at the end of the season.
