Tommaso Rima
Tommaso Rima (11 December 1775 – 26 February 1843) was a Swiss-Italian physician and surgeon. He studied varicose veins and innovated a ligation technique to manage it, making him a pioneer of vascular surgery. Rima was born in Mosogno, Ticino Canton, to Giacomo Antonio Gianini-Rima and Maria Xavieria (born either Zanedei or Picchioni from Corsica). He was educated at Locarno and Lugano before going to Rome to study medicine where his older brother had also been. He received his diploma in medicine and surgery at Sapienza in 1798. He then trained at the hospital of San Giovanni, Laterano, Rome until war broke out. He then became a military doctor. He was promoted to surgeon major of the Italian army in 1803 and was involved in organization building, and teaching. He served in 1805 at Trieste and at Naples (1806). Vascular Surgery
Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which vascular diseases involving the arteries, veins, or lymphatic vessels, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures and surgical reconstruction. The specialty evolved from general surgery, general and cardiac surgery, cardiovascular surgery where it refined the management of just the vessels, no longer treating the heart or other organs. Modern vascular surgery includes open surgery techniques, endovascular (minimally invasive) techniques and medical management of vascular diseases - unlike the parent specialities. The vascular surgeon is trained in the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting all parts of the vascular system excluding the coronaries and intracranial vasculature. Mosogno
Mosogno is a former Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Locarno (district), Locarno in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 10 April 2016 the former municipalities of Vergeletto, Gresso, Mosogno and Isorno merged into the municipality of Onsernone. History Mosogno is first mentioned in 1277 as ''Mosogno''. In 1352, it was mentioned as ''Muxognio''. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the five sq''uadrons'' that made up the community of Onsernone. It became an independent municipality in 1803. The church of S. Bernardo was built along the road in 1596. It became a parish church and the center of its own parish after it separated from Loco, Switzerland, Loco in 1685. The settlement of Mosogno Sotto has had the chapel of St. Maria Addolorata since 1684. In 1657, the chapel of S. Maria della Natività was built in Bairon, while in Chiosso, the chapel of S.
