Tomasz Bajerski (speedway Rider)
Tomasz Bajerski (born 9 September 1975 in Toruń, Poland) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned three international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Bajerski rode in the 2003 Speedway Grand Prix. He was won Team Polish Champion title in 2001 and Individual U-21 Polish Champion titles in 1993 and 1996. In the British leagues, Exeter Falcons wanted to sign him in 1995 before he actually rode for King's Lynn Stars, Oxford Cheetahs and Peterborough Panthers in the British speedway leagues. Toruń
Toruń is a city on the Vistula River in north-central Poland and a World Heritage Sites of Poland, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its population was 196,935 as of December 2021. The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual Motorcycle speedway, speedway event held each year organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. Speedway Grand Prix
Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The series started in 1995 replacing the previous format of a single event final. The first winner was Hans Nielsen of Denmark. Event format The format for a Grand Prix changed for the 2007 season onwards. Sixteen riders take part in each Grand Prix and over the course of twenty heats each rider will race against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advance to a semi-final and from each semi-final the 1st and 2nd placed riders will advance to the GP final. The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, the championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was usually run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a final consisting of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. The Exeter Falcons were a Motorcycle speedway, speedway team based in the city of Exeter. The Falcons operated from 1947 to 2005 at the County Ground Stadium in Exeter. History Origins & 1920s Speedway began at the County Ground in 1929, when the Southern Speedways Ltd, led by Mr Seward Glanfield agreed a ten-year contract with the Devon Athletic Ground Company. The 2003 Speedway Grand Prix was the 58th edition of the official World Championship and the ninth season in the Speedway Grand Prix era used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The world title was won by Nicki Pedersen of Denmark. Event format The system first used in 1998 continued to be adopted with 24 riders, divided into two classes. The eight best would be directly qualified for the "Main Event", while the sixteen others would be knocked out if they finished out of the top two in 4-man heats on two occasions - while they would go through if they finished inside the top two on two occasions.
