Tom Sandberg (photographer)
Tom Sandberg (14 September 1953 – 5 February 2014) was a Norwegian art photographer. Early life and education Sandberg was born on 14 September 1953 in Narvik, Norway, the son of Erik Sandberg and Aina Hällström. He grew up in the Grorud Valley in eastern Oslo. From 1973 until 1976 he studied photography at Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham, England. Career Sandberg worked as a photographer from the 1970s. According to ''Juxtapoz'' (2022), with his "signature modulating gray scale", he made photographs of "the everyday—dark abstractions of asphalt and sea, the hard edges of an automobile, an ominously curved tunnel, an anonymous figure casting a shadow ... Narvik (town)
or is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town and the administrative centre of Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The town is located along the Ofotfjorden in the Ofoten region. The town lies on a peninsula located between the Rombaken fjord and the Beisfjorden. The European route E06 highway runs through the Beisfjord Bridge and Hålogaland Bridge crossing the two small fjords surrounding the town. The town has a population (2023) of 14,051 which gives the town a population density of . Narvik Church is the main church for the town. Narvik is a commercial centre for the region. Grorud Valley
The Grorud Valley () is a valley and urban area or suburb in the northeastern part of Oslo, the capital of Norway. Four of Oslo's boroughs lie within the Grorud Valley; Bjerke to the west, Alna to the south, Grorud to the north, and Stovner to the east. The name ''Groruddalen'' has been in use at least since the mid-19th century. The current use of the name ''Groruddalen'' was coined in 1960 to describe the area covered by the local newspaper '' Akers Avis Groruddalen'', until then named ''Akers avis''. Before 1960, this area was known as ''Akersdalen'', whilst the name ''Groruddalen'' was user for the river valley from lake Alnsjøen along Alna River to Bryn. Anders August Jahre (28 May 1891 – 26 February 1982) was a Norwegian shipping magnate and philanthropist. After his death, it was discovered that he had undertaken tax evasion on a large scale; however, his legacy continues in the form of two foundations, humanitarian and medical, that each award annual cash prizes. Early life and education Anders August Jahre was born in Sandar on 28 May 1891, the son of farmer Jørgen Hansen Jahre and Anne Susanne Gulliksen Bøe. He was educated in law, and worked as a lawyer in Sandefjord from 1916 until 1928. Shipping career Jahre became involved in the whaling industry, and he founded the whaling company A/S Kosmos in 1928, operating out of Sandefjord. He also established Jahres Kjemiske Fabrikker, a processor of whale blubber, as well as establishing a passenger ferry line between Oslo and Kiel. Aperture Foundation is a nonprofit arts institution, founded in 1952 by Ansel Adams, Minor White, Barbara Morgan (photographer), Barbara Morgan, Dorothea Lange, Nancy Newhall, Beaumont Newhall, Ernest Louie, Melton Ferris, and Dody Warren. Their vision was to create a forum for fine art photography, a new concept at the time. National Museum Of Art, Architecture And Design
The National Museum (, officially the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design) is a museum in Oslo, Norway which holds the Norwegian state's public collection of art, architecture, and design objects. The collection totals over 400,000 works, amongst them the first copy of Edvard Munch's ''The Scream'' from 1893. The museum is state-owned and managed by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture.
