Tom Neville (hurler)
Thomas Neville (1939 – 19 October 2018) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Wexford senior team. Biography Born in Fethard-on-Sea, County Wexford, Neville first played competitive hurling in his youth. He made his senior debut for the Wexford senior team during the 1960 championship. Neville went on to play a key part for Wexford during a successful era for the county, and won two All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Neville won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he won one championship medal with Geraldine O'Hanrahan's. Throughout his career Neville made 27 championship appearances. His retirement came following Wexford's defeat by Kilkenny in the 1972 championship. Neville is widely regarded as one of Wexford's greatest-ever players. Honours Team ;Geraldi ... The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1972 was the 85th staging of Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Kilkenny won the championship, beating Cork 3-24 to 5-11 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. Calendar Format Overview The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1972 was run on a provincial basis as usual. It was a knockout tournament with pairings drawn at random in the respective provinces - there were no seeds. Each match was played as a single leg. If a match was drawn there was a replay. Wexford Inter-county Hurlers
Wexford () is the county town of County Wexford, Ireland. Wexford lies on the south side of Wexford Harbour, the estuary of the River Slaney near the southeastern corner of the island of Ireland. Pat Nolan (hurler)
Patrick Nolan (9 July 1937 – 29 August 2021) was an Irish hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Wexford senior team. Born in Oylegate, County Wexford, Nolan first played competitive hurling in his youth. He quickly came to prominence at underage levels with the Oylegate-Glenbrien club, before later winning championship medals in the junior and intermediate grades. Nolan was a one-time championship medal winner at senior level. Biography Nolan arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Wexford minor team. He joined the senior team as sub-goalkeeper for the 1956 championship. Nolan went on to play a key part for Wexford during a hugely successful era for the county, and won three All-Ireland medals, six Leinster medals and three National Hurling League medals. The 1970 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 84th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship began on 3 May 1970 and ended on 6 September 1970. Kilkenny were the defending champions but were defeated by Wexford in the Leinster final. Kildare, who won the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship in 1969, were promoted to the senior championship after a long absence. New York sought entry to the All-Ireland series but their request was denied. Galway left the Munster Championship after ten years of participation and reverted to the old system whereby they enter the championship at the All-Ireland semi-final stage.
