Tom Mays
Tom Mays (born February 6, 1954) is an American politician who served as a member of the California State Assembly for the 58th district from 1990 to 1992. He was previously the mayor of Huntington Beach, California. Early life and education Mays was born in Huntington Park, California and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, Manhattan Beach. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Arts in social science from the University of Chicago. Career Mays began his career as a campaign staffer for Congressman Dan Lungren in 1979. He later served as a district staffer in the office of Assemblyman Nolan Frizzelle. From 1986 to 1990, Mays was a member of the Huntington Beach City Council. During his tenure, Mays also served as mayor. Graciela Flores "Grace" Napolitano (; born December 4, 1936) is an American Democratic Party politician who has represented California's San Gabriel Valley and other parts of Los Angeles County in the United States House of Representatives since 1999. Daniel Edward Lungren (born September 22, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the U.S. representative for from 2005 to 2013. A member of the Republican Party, during his tenure, the district covered most of Sacramento County, portions of Solano County, as well as all of Alpine County, Amador County and Calaveras County. Nolan Frizzelle (October 16, 1921 – January 31, 2013) was a Republican politician who represented Orange County in the California State Assembly from 1980 until 1992. In 1992, he was defeated for renomination by Doris Allen after they were redistricted into the same district. Legislative career Frizzelle's political activity began in 1954 in Pasadena, California, where he led a movement to challenge the Pasadena public school decision to stop enforcing correct spelling in grammar school.
