Tom Gray (British Musician)
Tom Gray is a British songwriter, composer, and activist. He is a founding member of the rock band Gomez, and the founder of the Broken Record campaign. He is the recipient of the 2022 Unsung Hero Award presented by the Music Producer’s Guild UK. Work Gray is a founding member and one of three vocalists in the UK indie rock band Gomez. With Gomez, he won the Mercury Prize in 1998. He founded the Broken Record campaign in March 2020 to seek fairer remuneration for music creators, especially from streaming. The campaign helped to initiate a UK parliamentary inquiry into the ‘Economics of streaming’. In April 2021, Gray wrote a letter to the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, requesting better rights for creators and for the industry to be referred to the UK Competition and Markets Authority. ''In My Skin'' is a British comedy drama television series written by Kayleigh Llewellyn that premiered on BBC Three on 14 October 2018. The series was initially ordered as a short film for BBC Wales, but this later acted as the pilot episode after BBC ordered ''In My Skin'' as a full series. The Music Producers Guild (MPG) (UK) promotes and represents all individuals in the music production and recording professions. It is a professional organisation that embodies collective and individual creative contributions to the production and recording of all genres of music and media related activities. As a guild, the organisation has no political party affiliation. The organisation presents the Music Producers Guild Awards annually. In 2008, the MPG and BPI coordinated their awards programmes. ''Danny, the Champion of the World'', or simply Danny, is a 1975 children's book by Roald Dahl. The plot centres on Danny, a young English boy, and his father, William. They live in a Gypsy caravan, fix cars for a living in their mechanic shop and partake in poaching pheasants. It was first published on February 14, 1975 in the United States by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. and in the United Kingdom by Jonathan Cape. Gomez are an English indie rock band from Southport, comprising Ian Ball (vocals, guitar), Paul "Blackie" Blackburn (bass), Tom Gray (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Ben Ottewell (vocals, guitars) and Olly Peacock (drums, synths, computers). The band has three singers and four songwriters, employing traditional and electronic instruments.
