Thomas Nelson, 2nd Earl Nelson
Thomas Nelson, 2nd Earl Nelson, born Thomas Bolton (7 July 1786 – 1 November 1835), was the 2nd Earl Nelson. He was the son of Thomas Bolton of Wells, Norfolk, and Susannah Nelson, daughter of the Rev. Edmund Nelson. He was educated at Norwich High School and from 1807 at Peterhouse, Cambridge, graduating MA in 1814. He was the nephew of Admiral Horatio Nelson. He married Frances Elizabeth Eyre, daughter of John Maurice Eyre of Landford, Wiltshire, on 21 February 1821. Thomas Bolton (died 30 March 1862) was mayor of the Borough of Liverpool, England, for the year 1840–41 and from 1814 was a prominent merchant and financier in the firm of Bolton Ogden & Co., which brought together in partnership Bolton's trade in raw cotton based in Liverpool, Lancashire, and that of Jonathan Ogden, whose family's cloth-manufacturing business was based in Leeds, Yorkshire, but was himself based mostly in New York. The firm, which also had dealings with Baltic companies, engaged in trade both in cotton and flour. Charles Thomas Bolton (April 15, 1943 – ) was an American-Canadian astronomer who was one of the first in his field to present strong evidence of the existence of a stellar-mass black hole. Biography Bolton was born in Camp Forrest, a military base in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He received his bachelor's degree in 1966 from the University of Illinois, followed by a 1968 master's degree and a 1970 doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan. Bolton then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the David Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill, Ontario, teaching there until 1972. He taught at Scarborough College from 1971 to 1972, and at Erindale College from 1972 to 1973. Thereafter, he was affiliated with the University of Toronto astronomy department, eventually becoming an emeritus professor. Thomas Edward Bolton (born May 6, 1962) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1987 through 1994 for the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, and Baltimore Orioles. Listed at and , he batted and threw left-handed. Biography A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Bolton helped lead Antioch High School to the Tennessee High School Class AAA state championship in 1979, his junior year. His overall win–loss record as a high school pitcher was 26–4. Bolton was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round of the 1980 MLB draft. Bolton's professional baseball career spanned 1980 to 1998, as he appeared in Minor League Baseball during 16 seasons and in MLB during eight seasons.
